For All Seasons is a piece about memories, seasons and using the elements of the textual representation of the memory to create an interactive one.
This iPhone version is a port of the PC and Mac version of the piece released in 2005, the primary way to experience the piece is still the desktop version, which can be downloaded from http://www.hahakid.net
- One finger dragging interacts, while two finger dragging moves the camera.
- Double tapping on the screen while in Autumn disables whirlwind.
- Double tapping on the right corner while in Autumn resets the position of the letters.
- Double tapping on the left corner pauses the simulation.
Care has been taken to try and adapt this piece for the iPhone, but the primary motivation for the port was to gain familiarity with iPhone programing.
Ratings and Reviews
This app is so charming. Each season is linked to a sense-image described in a single paragraph. While the text is modest, a mite too pedestrian to evoke the strong emotion it references, the letters take flight when you touch the screen, swirling into wind-tossed dandelion seeds, silvery fish swarms, scattered leaves, & falling snow. What's really wonderful about this app is how the developer has managed to capture the difficulty & the power of re-presenting realistic movement, in words & in programming, with great wit & subtlety. I'd have to agree with some of the other reviews here, though; as great as this app is, it would allow for a deeper, more absorbing interaction if the seasons were more sensitive to touch. Wonderful work, anyway, well worth downloading.
Does nothing, lottsa' fun
Like Spawn Illuminati and Artisan, this app does nothing but is a lot more fun. I don't understand why this app gets so much grief while the other aforementioned apps seem to slide on by.
I recommend downloading "The Blue Danube" and listening to it while playing with "Seasons". Jeez, it's just so relaxing.
I s'pose it'd be nice if I could right my own text or download others but, hey, it's art not a tool to make art. I would like to see more stuff like this in the app store. Maybe a whole new catagory: "art."
Oh, and it does work in landscape mode.

This is a truly amazing app, the interface is amazing and wows quite a few more people than you'd expect. "Autumn" is by far the best season where you can interact with an actual twister with the letters.
It would be really amazing if you could, for example, have people load and interact with their own text files, but this is still worth it even without this feature.
All in all though, this is an amazing visual experience that you would never have expected on an iphone.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
