Ford GoBike is the Bay Area’s bike share system, and one of the largest in the nation. Ford GoBike has thousands of bikes at hundreds of stations in San Francisco, San Jose, Berkeley, Oakland and Emeryville. Best of all, it’s available 24/7.
Ford GoBike consists of a fleet of specially designed, sturdy and durable bikes that are locked into a network of docking stations throughout the city. The bikes can be unlocked from one station and returned to any other station in the system, making them ideal for one-way trips. People use bike share to commute to work, meet friends for dinner, or simply cruise around and see new sights.
The Ford GoBike App allows you to purchase a pass, unlock a bike, and ride right away.
Within the app, you can purchase a Single Ride, a GoPass (unlimited 3-hour rides), or an Annual Membership. You can view all station locations, view the number of available bikes and docks, and save your favorites for later reference.
Need a route suggestion? Simply tap a station pin or location and the app will show you the best route.
And of course, get your exercise credit when you pedal with a Health app integration.
You know when you’re out with your friends who don’t have a membership and they’re like, “Ugh, the next place is too far to walk and too short to drive!” And you’re like, “Wish we could all just take a quick bike ride!” And they’re like, “Us too!” And then you stand there for a while in wistful silence? Good news! Group Ride is here! Now you can take up to 4 friends on any trip for the same low price as a single ride. Just buy them rides and unlock their bikes straight from your app.

Too many bugs
I used the dockless bike yesterday and had a lot of issues.
First, the bike location which showed on the app didn’t have bike at all. This happened twice before I could find an actual bike in the location.
At last, after I locked the bike, the timer was still running. I waited for 5 mins as the servers could take time to refresh. But thetimer was still continuing.
Later I called customer care and was put on hold by the automated voice for 15 mins and then the automated voice asked me if I would prefer to receive a call back as the representatives were busy. After 10 mins, I received an automated call back and informed that their representatives are still busy and can’t be connected and asked me to leave a voicemail. But it didn’t allow me to leave voicemail. It just hung up.
Overall, a very frustrating app and the customer service! Need to fix a lot of bugs.
Bikes are junk. Customer service incompetent
The bikes are rusty junk. The seat post wouldn’t stay up. Prepare to get covered in bike grease trying to make it work. The gears are completely impractical. There is no specific setting for 1, 2, 3. It’s a continuous sliding scale with no visual indicator of which gear you’re in. You stop at traffic lights, do you need to drop down to 2nd gear? Good luck finding the right gear until you try to pedal off.
They managed to charge me through ApplePay for the first $2.19. Then harassed me for a week because their transaction for the remaining few dollars didn’t go through. Their rude and incompetent customer service people just send the same automated reply. You’ll have to do all the work to get it resolved.
I’m so sorry I tried this terrible service. They do not deserve to take up so much space in our city. There must be better companies.
Great, except when no bikes
Dockless services like Jump and Lime are all the rage these days, but Go’s stations are generally convenient enough that it’s not a problem for me. I prefer having an unlimited ride subscription and a predictable place to pick up (the new e-bikes are great, too). The only thing keeping this 5 stars is that it doesn’t feel like Motivate is on top of redistributing the bikes in a timely manner. The three stations by me are increasingly sitting empty for the entire day, making it so I can’t rely on the service. They told me months ago they are working on optimizing this, but as clusters of stations sit empty for 7+ hours, I’m not seeing serious efforts of that as a customer.
