Description

Forecaster is a modern weather app for the Mac. It does not try and wow you with simulated pictures or movies of the weather. It provides a simple and clear forecast for weather locations you select. If snow is in the forecast you will actually get the predicted snowfall total and not just an icon that leaves you wondering. If the location you select is a body of water you will get a marine forecast, letting you know how big the waves will be. It gathers it's forecasts from NOAA and therefore is only available in the United States and it's territories.

Some of the unique features of Forecaster are that it updates the dock icon with the temperature of your current location. It has a clean and easy to use interface, and provides a great map view.

Adding new locations is as easy as centering the map on the location, creating a name for the location, and saving it. The saved locations are synced across your computers through iCloud, so you will only ever have to maintain a single list of locations.

App optimized for retina displays.

Customer Reviews

A simple, elegant app

I usually avoid apps with few or no reviews since my app budget is tight. I am happy to say that this app was worth the price.

The interface is simple, flat and elegant. There are a few options to see things like the forecast and a map for the forecast location. The option to add different locations is a nice feature. The only thing I can be concerned about is that the dock icon doesn’t actually display the real-time temp at my present location. It is a static 72F no matter what the real temp outside is. I know it is a minor quible, but still worth noting if you like to check without needing to click the actual app.

Cool, but liked the other icon better

Can we have the option of choosing a different icon?

no celcius option

This is a beautifully simple app but why on earth can’t I set the temperature to celcisu. Surely can’t be difficult to implement and basic function.
