Move free-form addresses from web browsers, word processors, or any text to your Mac’s address book in a couple of clicks!

How often have you tried to add an address you've seen on a web page to your address book and ended up writing it on a Post-It? There is a better way: use FormalAddress. It’s really easy and really fast.

Convert up to ten contacts at once that you’ve found in web pages, word-processing documents, or any text source (FormalAddress will handle pasted or dragged-in text and .txt, .rtf, .doc, .docx, and .htm files) and send them directly to the Apple Address Book or to VCF, CSV, and tabbed-text formats suitable for import into address books, spreadsheets, and databases.

FormalAddress recognizes addresses in 53 countries and 12 languages: all of North & South America, most of the Caribbean and most of Western Europe.

It works :-)

This app is a time saver. It does one thing, and it does it well. Copy a contact, tweak it to make sure you have what you want were, and shoot it over to the Address Book. Thanks for a cool little tume saver!

I'm hoping it works better from the web than a text document

I had a contact list in a Google doc, which did not let me copy addresses. No problem, download it and open in textedit. Paste address into FormalAddress, formalize, and …
Names went to title, email address and phone number ignored because of blank line. If I delete the blank line, then catches email and phone, but still misses name, now places in what's left.

I wish there was a preference so phone numbers might go to home or work depending on the type of list I am capturing. Missing info or what's left into notes.

Waste of Time....

This program may work for others, but I found it worthless in my brief experimentation. Buggy and ineffective at what I wanted it to do, which was to copy the signature from an email received, paste that text into FA, and have it sort out the text into the appropriate fields of Address Book. My experience was so dismal I gave up after one sitting. Made me wonder what sort of special effects were used to create the tutorial videos on the FA website. If I spend 20 minutes trying to shoehorn text through an "auto" address app, what's the point? I could have typed ten address cards in that span of time!
