Ratings and Reviews
Don’t subscribe! VERY BAD!
If I can give NO stars, I would.
I paid for subscription. The app does not update their content, especially results of testing or qualification. The last straw happened during the most recent Grand Prix in Spain. Due to time zone differences it has been 8 hours since the race ended. I was eager to see the results, so I went to the app but was very disappointed to see the score board which says “pending”? I rebooted my phone and got the same results! This happened for the previous race as well and I thought there was a glitch. Since I cannot get the race results, I ended up checking ESPN and Google, all at the same time wondering why i paid for content and why I’m not getting the most updated info directly from THE source. I contacted F1s customer service, and their customer service response was that it takes time for them to update bc they want to make sure they are uploading the most quality content. So I wrote back all we are asking for is the race results that’s being published by every news outlets in the world and by not giving me this basic info, I asked for my money back as well as ending my subscription. The service rep said this can only be done by contacting apple. So I did and apple has given me a full refund. Don’t waste your time.
App ok, but billing method deceptive
No complaints about the app. But, there's something fundamentally wrong with the "stealth" billing method this F1 app uses. Basically, you get no reminders or notices of upcoming charges. Instead, like greedy companies tend to do more and more, they just take your money out of your credit card with no comment. Afterwards you do get an iTunes receipt... but that's after the fact. Don't believe for a moment this was not a conscious decision on this apps maker to try to fleece as much stealth money from fans as possible. Afterall, if they were to remind you that a billing is coming in one week, you might cancel your subscription. I'm getting to the point that I'm removing most of my apps from most of my devices because of shady methods being used by developers and publishers. Oh, did I mention, there's no link or information in the app on how to *unsubscribe*, but plenty of 'subscribe' links. And you go to the F1 website, log into your account, and there is nowhere no place any information on how to unsubscribe. They don't know the word. Shame, but the best response is to not play their dishonest game at all. Shame. I'm out.
Where's the Support?
I think it's bloody stupid that the App Support link takes you to the F1 website, but that there are no support links (that I can find) once I'm at the website.
The app works pretty decently,
However, I'm having Bluetooth issues when in my car. The commentary doesn't come through in my 2013 Subaru Outback. All other apps that have audio output seem to work but not this one. Often I want to listen to the commentary only bit I have to switch from BT to (phone) speaker to hear it.
This may be simply an issue with my car's Bluetooth itself but since I can't find support, or a support forum where there is information sharing this makes it difficult.
As I mentioned, all other apps work fine over the car's audio, just not this app. And it's not my phone. I just changed phones. I have had this issue over my older phones (iPhone 5s, 6) and now they continue on my 6 Plus S.
Maybe it's just the car but I wonder if others are experiencing something similar. Works fine on home Bluetooth though. So by process of elimination I'm thinking it's the car, although it would be valuable of the developers updated the app to utilise the same Bluetooth audio protocols as other apps.
I hope someone is reading this and responds.
