“The new Foursquare, like Netflix, takes a lot of the work out of finding the right thing for the right moment.” — The Verge

How It Works:

Tell Foursquare what you like — be specific, like “craft beer” or “fried chicken,” or more general, like “outdoor seating” or “romantic places.” Every search is tailored to your tastes, your past ratings, and picks from friends and experts you trust.

A note on battery –
We've spent years developing the location technology that powers Foursquare, making it extremely power efficient. But, as with all apps of this type, please note that continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

What's New in Version 9.18

Likes are now upvotes. Help others see the best tips by giving them an upvote. Something outdated or incorrect? There's a downvote button for that, too. Don’t worry if you don’t see the change happen immediately, we’re rolling it out slowly across the globe.

Also, it's baaaaack. Check out your history tab. We've made it easier to confirm where you were, rate a place, and leave a tip about that incredible ooey gooey cinnamon roll you had for breakfast.

Contextual recs just keep getting better

I've been using foursquare consistently since 2009, and I was among the first 40,000 users. Foursquare and swarm are now more fun and engaging than they've ever been. It's great to see that some of my favorite features (points, leaderboard, and stickers) have returned and that they are now more compelling than ever.

I'm anxious to see where this journey taut Foursquare is embarking upon leads the company. With all the data that they are now gathering with "Pilgrim", passive recs should improve greatly in the coming weeks and months.

Foursquare is now better than it’s ever been. I’m going to remain a loyal user of an app that has brought so much fun, joy, and adventure into my life over the years.

Tied For 1st Place

I use Foursquare and Google. The one thing Google has over Foursquare is a much better rating system. Foursquare's rating system is based on a set group of standard questions for each place. But many of the questions do not apply, so many places get low ratings when they are actually very good places. Foursquare needs to change their rating system to be more like Google and Yelp.

Amazing Travel & Review App

This app is very similar to another super famous travel/review app, yet it feels unique enough to earn a spot on my iDevice. Recently, Foursquare sent me some awesome ideas for summer road trips and it conveniently allowed me to save it to a list for later viewing. Try Foursquare today!
