Description

Foursquare is now available for Apple Watch.

Foursquare is your ultimate city guide, in your pocket. Find the best places to eat, drink, shop, or visit — in any city in the world. Access over 60 million short reviews from local experts. Traveling or looking to discover new places nearby? Get the free iPhone and iPad app today.

• Tell Foursquare your favorite things and the app gets to know you.
• Search for the best restaurants, coffee, nightlife, shops, and more.
• Read short reviews and never miss out on the best thing to order or experience.
• Save places you want to go, so you never forget.

“The new Foursquare, like Netflix, takes a lot of the work out of finding the right thing for the right moment.” — The Verge

How It Works:

Tell Foursquare what you like — be specific, like “craft beer” or “fried chicken,” or more general, like “outdoor seating” or “romantic places.” Every search is tailored to your tastes, your past ratings, and picks from friends and experts you trust.

A note on battery –
We've spent years developing the location technology that powers Foursquare, making it extremely power efficient. But, as with all apps of this type, please note that continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

What's New in Version 8.11.1

This release contains critical fixes for the Foursquare widget and Apple Watch improvements.

Tired of wearing your iPhone on your wrist? Good news! This version of Foursquare includes an app for your Apple Watch. And it’s really slick. When you're out and about, it'll let you know when you're near something awesome. You can also easily search the best spots nearby, and quickly find out what’s best when you get there.

Also in this release, on your iPhone:
- A new history tab. With just one tap from the homescreen, you can see a list of the recent places you’ve been and quickly rate them.
- Quick access to nearby places. Tap on the search box and you will see the three closest places, so you can easily find out the best dish at the restaurant you’re at.
- As always, there’s some speed improvements and bug fixes as well.
Happy exploring.

Tired of waiting - and I have a super user account

Let's be honest... this isn't about whether Foursquare and Swarm should be recombined, which is more than obvious by now; rather, this is about how much damage Foursquare has done by waiting so long to fix the problem.

I've been patiently waiting for Foursquare to reintegrate Swarm and give up on that idea, hopeful that anyone I know - anyone at all - might start checking in and using the social features again on that fateful day. But I'm facing the reality that it's simply been too long for Foursquare to make a comeback. My feeds in both apps are dead. As a stand alone app, Swarm is terrible. But more importantly, its birth gutted Foursquare and took away its edge.

Why use this Foursquare when Yelp is way more widely adopted? Why check-in with comments in Swarm when I'm having to use a different app from the same developer to leave reviews for that place while I'm there? Who actually uses both apps to leave their mark on one place and share their experience? Foursquare had a unique proposition by having these features centralized (not to mention the fun of mayorships and badges, for which there has been no worthy substitute), but now it's all gone. And it's been gone so long that very few people even still care. If Foursquare became a great app again tomorrow, I'm fairly certain most of my friends would not even care to redownload it.

Tomas Enrique Sanchez Sanchez loves this extraordinary application . Foursquare has the latest list. You can find places to make the arrangements ;to visit a great restaurant to eat,or drink ,choice a few bars to share with friends or to be at the best gay bar with your best friends . To select from your list of the week ;the best or favorite movies at the different theaters . On summer to choice your best Parks to have a nice quiet picnic with the family. See the nature and hear the birds sing. Add an Outdoor Concert and have an delight to hear folklore concert , Rock Concert or an instrumental band for a choice too. Add to your life the best moments to walk around your favorite boutique or men's store . Select your friends to visit the best Malls from your city or country. To go window viewing thought all the stores ,or go window shopping and to choice the best bargains of the weekend too. I am delighted with the excellent service and methods to get near to the best places of interest . I'll give 5 stars for the extraordinary service. I recommend this application called Swarms to all my friends. Thanks . I added this application to my iPad and at the first moment at my iPhone 6.

Was good.

Update: this app has been ruined. Swarm is the new checkin app and it's not very good. Foursquare is supposed to be a super advanced personalized recommendation engine, but based on 3,000 checkins all over the county the top recommendation is a bar. I don't even drink, and have never checked into a bar before. Foursquare should know that with all the data it has collected about me. So much for your fancy personalized search.

Original review:
Foursquare offers great recommendations on places to go in town. I find the foursquare recommendations to be better than yelp or urban spoon because they are based on more than just a rating. Foursquare will tell you which places have a good rating but also which places are popular and have returning customers. I have found some amazing restaurants with it. If you are not getting good recommendations it could be because you are not checking in or there are not enough people in your town checking in.
I also love checking in and exporting my checkins to google maps to see all my travels. Overall this is a great app and is a lot of fun! Have been using it daily since over 3 years.
