What's New in Version 3.1.1
Bug fixes and performance optimizations
Probably the best live stream app that I use.
I haven't had to deal with a lot of the same problems that I do with other live stream apps. The video loads, the stream is clean. The signal is strong, even when I've been on a subpar network... I haven't tested the extremes of that yet, but I'm more impressed with this one compared to the others.
The part that I really appreciate is that Fox doesn't dink around with which games they'll show you. FS1 & FS2 obviously, but when there's a live game on the local FS channel, I get that too. Even if it's the local Fox affiliate... where so many other apps fail because of local broadcast restrictions... I can stream those games too.
I think Fox Sports leads the pack when it comes to the only thing I care about from my sports stream apps... I just want to see the game. Well done, so far.
There are so many irritating problems with this app it doesn't even make sense. My main problem right now has nothing to do with the app stability, because that has improved, but it's the programming! On Saturdays during CFB season I can't watch a majority of games that are on the network yet I can watch them on my TV. Right now I cannot watch Texas vs Oklahoma on my phone nor my Apple TV through this app! Plus, I live in South Texas and am an avid Dallas Stars fan and can usually watch a large majority of the games on my TV yet if I go out and want to watch it on my phone I can't because of my location. Which I understand, but if my location doesn't matter to watch the game on my TV why should it matter on the app. Overall the programming is nonsensical and really a very poor set up for the app. WatchESPN and NBC Live Sports Extra apps are much better overall and have more features available.
Updated Review - App is better now
It is absolutely necessary to have location services enabled to use this app. The app has been improved and works much better now. I don't like the user interface as much as other sports apps. I had an issue where I was watching an event where it switches to another channel, so I switch and the event isn't on the other channel. I try to go back to the previous channel, but the icon is gone and no way to go back. Event gone!
Events are rebroadcast, but the timing is usually inconvenient for an iPad user.
NBC Sports and WatchESPN apps are way better than this app. Both offer the ability to replay events on demand.
