### Lots of Potential

This app has so much potential and is really exciting in a lot of ways. The virtual manipulatives are really good and visualize fractions in an elegant and unique way. There are major flaws thought that I hope are fixed in the future.

For one thing, the major example used in the lessons is a teacher t hat uses chalk. There is no way kids are going to relate to this. In most parts of the world, white boards are now used instead of chalk and kids may not even have heard of chalk. As a teacher I know that if kids do not understand the basic situation of an example, they're not likely to understand the concept. Even if they did know about teachers using chalk, the idea of the teacher putting scraps together to make wholes is preposterous and any kid is going to be lost at that point.

Another couple things that need to be fixed to make this app meet its potential: t
1. There are no questions right now.
2. The example manipulatives during the lessen should require the user to answer correctly (possibly with assistance) before moving on.
3. The number line manipulative should be at least partially labeled, and fractions are represented usually with a dot on a number line, not an arrow.

I liked a lot of this app and this is intended as constructive criticism; I look forward to updates and I intend to use this app with my fifth graders.

### High quality learning

If you're serious about wanting to teach or learn fractions, then I think you will love this app. The lessons are very clear and detailed. There is also plenty of opportunity for students to practice what they learn. I love how the lessons have narration and periodic interactive activities so that students stay engaged and do not get bored. If the iPad is going to be an improvement over previous learning technologies, then learning on the iPad really should take full advantage of the device's interactivity and multimedia.
