WiFi and app need HELP
I just purchased a 2019 model with built-in Wi-Fi and I downloaded the Friedrich connect app. Now I started to try and connect fail after fail after fail. The app is so poorly designed that not even all the words come up on my iPhone so I thought I tried the iPad the same. The Wi-Fi times out on the AC unit so you’ll have to try to get that on again and quickly start entering all your Wi-Fi information those of you who know the Wi-Fi numbers on these routers is very long by the time you enter all of that, the Wi-Fi times out again on the air-conditioner. I am beyond disgusted with this, tomorrow I will be calling them and hope that somebody with half a brain could help me through this, otherwise I just spent $1000 on an air-conditioner with no connectivity. Plus they deleted the auto fan speed on the new units. The remote is a joke it’s the size of a matchbook and they deleted the LCD screen on it. How much cheaper can you get, you can buy a $300 conditioner with a better remote.
So Much Wrong
After years of suffering through Frederich’s previous disaster of an app, I was optimistic this costly second investment would be the solution. Unfortunately, that couldn’t be further from the truth. It’s almost as if the developers intentionally created this as some type of cruel joke.
The two most notable failures of this app are, number one the ambient “room” temperature is no longer displayed anywhere in the app (still clearly visible on the air-conditioning units themselves) All you see is “NA.” Secondly, I was once able to group units together, no longer. The web interface gives no reason for this despite the clear fact that it’s advertised as such. The iOS application makes reference to some type of “legacy” model that I apparently have despite the fact that I have upgraded all of my units hardware and firmware.
This is just as frustrating as the old app, just in different ways. Though the interface appears to be slightly slicker, the sacrifice of actual functionality hardly makes up for that.
In this world of connected technology, it’s shocking that this is the best they have to offer. In all of the elements of hvac construction Frederich is the gold standard but not in connectivity.
I sincerely hope that these problems can be corrected and that it’s simply a rush to publish before the summer cooling season. Otherwise, they’ve got a real dud (for a 2nd time) on their hands.
Simply put, disappointment!
App needs some work.
The room temp listing as N/A is pretty necessary information. As if I’m going to remotely activate my unit, I like to know what temp it is in my home. According to Friedrich this feature is in development and will be corrected in an app release update at a TBD date. It would be great to know when it’s planned for release.
Friedrich another item to fix is the “Speed” function. It has low, medium, high, and max. But it’s missing “auto”. Every time I turn on my unit with the app I’m forced to choose a fixed speed, yet the unit has an option for auto speed.
Why does fan have an auto option and speed does not when the unit supports auto for both these settings?
