Better than the actual Facebook app - but I still have grips
The actual Facebook app has several flaws for iOS. For example it does not support share sheets. So if you find an article you like it is multiple clicks to get into Safari where you have an actual share sheet to send the article to.
Using the 12.9 iPad Pro the Facebook app still does not support the full keyboard.
So mostly Friendly is a very good alternative. You can get to a share sheet in a couple of clicks - sending to Pocket even faster. It does support iPad Pro's (full keyboard) along with device that support split screen. This app is continiously updated which is very important. It also includes access to Messenger so you don't have to install that app or even Instagram.
So mostly I am happy to use this app and paid for the ad blocking. I like how swipe is used for navigation. I also like that you can set how your news feed is presented in always the same way.
I prefer to use Facebook lists since I have enough "friends" that a list breaks this down more. So I can easily get to my list, but the problem is that a refresh while in a list then defaults to showing the news feed instead. Would prefer refreshing the view that I am one.
So not the perfect interface to Facebook, but much better than the actual Facebook app.
FINALLY lets me share to groups!
At last, the final major barrier from me choosing this as my primary Facebook app has been tackled. This app takes up significantly less space than the normal FB app (especially with use), allows for messaging in-app instead of requiring Messenger (though I might still use that for some of the special features), lets me choose the color, and offers the options of passcode and Touch ID locks. The only reason I kept getting frustrated and deleting it after downloading was because there was no way to share things to groups, which was a big no-no for me. Now that this functionality has been added, I foresee using this app for quite a while, barring any new issues. I might even spring for the upgrade to get rid of ads. We shall see.
Here's a review that hasn't been planted like the rest of them
This app needs a lot of work. Period. It's impossible to use, IMO, mainly because the scrolling is terrible and the clicking is overly sensitive. I can't begin to tell you how many times I will be scrolling and accidentally click on something. Also, as I use the normal, native FB app, I come to find I've accidentally sent friend requests and liked pages that I never intended to do. Update after update, I hope it gets better, but it doesn't. So why do I use it at all? I hate the FB Messenger app and don't trust it. Friendly somehow circumvents the need for that app, as it allows full access to all of your messages, which is honestly all this app is good for. Just be very careful as you scroll, or you'll be sending requests and liking things you never intended to.
