In FTL you experience the atmosphere of running a spaceship trying to save the galaxy. It's a dangerous mission, with every encounter presenting a unique challenge with multiple solutions. What will you do if a heavy missile barrage shuts down your shields? Reroute all power to the engines in an attempt to escape, power up additional weapons to blow your enemy out of the sky, or take the fight to them with a boarding party? This "spaceship simulation roguelike-like" allows you to take your ship and crew on an adventure through a randomly generated galaxy filled with glory and bitter defeat.
- Give orders to your crew, manage ship power distribution and choose weapon targets in the heat of battle.
- Pause the game mid-combat to evaluate your strategy and give orders.
- Upgrade your ship and unlock new ones with the help of seven diverse alien races.
- Hundreds of text based encounters will force you to make tough decisions.
- Each play-through will feature different enemies, events, and results to your decisions. No two play-throughs will be quite the same.
- Permadeath means when you die, there's no coming back. The constant threat of defeat adds importance and tension to every action.

If you are into good games, buy this app. If you are into bad games, buy this app and change your ways. You will enjoy every moment of playing this game, and you will never stop playing. With all the different ships, scenarios, and achievements to beat, your fun will never end.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with FTL, this gem of an indie game started out on the computer and was ingeniously turned into this app. It brings forth a retro gaming experience, and has exceptional gameplay and music. It is perfection. Some may say though that what happens in this app is based too much off of random numbers. Those people are dumb. Don't listen to them and just buy this app.
For those of you already familiar with FTL, you will not be disappointed. The controls are nearly the same, if not better. A main benefit being you can turn auto fire on for individual weapons, instead of all of them. In addition, this IOS version loads just as fast and runs just as smoothly as the PC. It even includes advanced addition.
So if this doesn't convince you to buy this, too bad for you. If it does, great. Play for an hour, play for a day, play all year. The time spent will not detract from the fun. And if you ever get stuck, remember these two things: giant alien spiders ARE a joke, and leave unless you have an antibio beam or boarding drone, and if you are unsure about anything, check the FTL wiki.
The developers obviously put in a lot of effort in this game, since they not only topped steam charts with the PC version, but they also managed to (very) successfully port the game over to iOS. The game itself is a very fun rogue-like game that is set in space. You are the captain of the kestrel, a federation ship that is tasked with delivering information vital to the survival of the federation. While trying to complete this mission, you will encounter many obstacles that will hinder your progress, but with patience and strategy, you will eventually complete your mission. This game is different every time, and even if you complete the story with the kestrel, there are still many more ships to explore, and as a bonus, there is also the advanced edition content which adds in many more races, enemies, equipment, and side-quests. Overall, this is a thrilling strategy game for anyone that is interested in investing $5 for a wonderful way game. This game is well worth the cost since the soundtrack alone is already about the same price on steam. In conclusion, this game is basically perfect in every way since all the game mechanics lock together to form a very solid game with great gameplay, storyline, and soundtrack.
Too hard? What do you think?
This game is good but some people are giving low ratings because it's too hard search strategies and unlock more ships and stuff before you say this is too hard the game is a strategy game in space with a bunch of random stuff that can happen that makes you loose crew gain crew i dont think everybody understands the concept it's SUPPOSED TOO BE HARD person who said that the federation should have better ships get good with the ships they have a strategies and certain down sides like the zoltan ship has good defense but the weapons are horrible and hard to get working and there are more ships then the kestrel and the premise is to get a new ship like the engi then use it or get the type b or something and I changed it to 5 stars dont know why it was 3 re: I saw a dude who said he got nothing from defeating the "mother ship" but there's only a flag ship it ends after that and he said it continued and your ship had to have been strong enough to beat it also there's a second and third part if that's the problem and if you get to sector 8 the last one with type b of any ship you get type c so you will get prizes once you do two of the ships achievements
