The service works great, the app is a little clunky

I just started using this yesterday as a way to sync my Office 365 contacts, which is my primary source of truth, with iCloud and Gmail to make it easier to address emails from other platforms and email programs. As far as that goes, the service is working great. However after spending a few hours working with the macOS app I’ve stumbled on a couple of annoyances.

1. The app has an “updates” section where you can view and apply recently updated fields, which is awesome. However, after you update a contact the app changes your view and moves you back to the all contacts view. So if you have a lot of contacts to update, having to manually change back to the updates view after every update you apply is a huge unnecessary pain. My message to the developer is, don’t change my view! Assume that if I’m in the Updates view I want to stay in the Updates view.

2. The business card scanning feature says that scans are manually keyed in and then reviewed by 2 different humans. Please. If that’s the case than your humans need to learn how to read. I’ve scanned about 10 business cards and 30% of them have had ridiculous errors, like making someone’s first name “Roofer” or their last name “Roto-Rooter”. Honestly you should seriously consider ceasing to evangelize that humans proofread your scans because it makes your humans look really bad.

Not the app you’d think it is ...

I was looking for something “better” than the CONTACTS app in Mac OSx and installed this app. I was surprised to see that there were no “export” options, only “import” … very Microsoft-like. I also noticed that there were no options to deal with duplicate contacts. In essence, it didn’t look that different, and options and features were nothing to brag about. I’ve seriously thought about going back to the Palm Pilot’s Addressbook app.

I want something I can count on, that will import AND export, and will allow “me” to control my contacts data, and sync it, rid it of duplicates, and protect it. But my big reason for even looking outside of the default contacts with the Mac OSx was the contacts on my iPhone and iPad DO NOT support groups, or grouping of contacts like I can on the Mac OSx. I want to categorize my contacts as I deal with many different groups. Google’s method is rather weird on the web interface and I finally gave up on that. Apple offers it on the Mac OSx but not on the devices, so I was looking.
And after dealing with FullContact, I will continue to be … looking.

By the way, either an app is FREE or it is not! You sell it as Free, but then nickel and dime us on the back-end with the things that would really make it work. In other words, the FREE app you get here is incomplete. You won’t be happy with it. And $10 bucks/month is too much for contact management for most.

Didn’t work for me

I was looking for a Contact Manager that was an upgrade from the woeful web interface of iCloud on OS X. I purchased, and spent $100 to subscribe to the Premium version to sync all my contacts.
Well, Google imports fine. iCloud there is a little dance that must be done to accomodate 2 factor ID, but received an app specific password for FC. But, with everything in place, FullContact would not recognize/authenticate the Premium version for me (which would allow iCloud contacts). A few days and emails later with tech support and they suggested cancelling the App Store subscription and re-buying on their website.
One, it may have been to circumvent the App store developer markup. Two, after all the workarounds, I didn’t have $100 worth of faith in this method working. If you know what I mean. I mean, it’s a contact manager;it’s $100. Its shoud be easier to buy and use than this.
That being said, It did seem promising if your needs are different.
