My favorite mobile game
Game Dev Story has been a staple with me for mobile device game for a long time now. The game play is mostly simple and straight forward. The depth comes with really maximizing your studios team and output. you start with a team of 4 but this expands as in game time goes by. Different challenges exist with managing money to pay/train staff and advertise your games and company. Also the quality of your games factors in to a yearly awards ceremony and it actually feels like you did a great job when one of your titles wins a category. By endgame things can feel a little easy as by that time you have a good enough team or enough Boost abilities to make a constant stream of epic games. Would like to see some sort of "challenge" mode at the end like maybe having to make games maxed out in certain categories or maybe something for like contracts with publishers to produce a certain game of a certain quality. I will note that after a certain number of in-game years the game "ends". You can keep playing post game but highscores don't count. You instead can go on to a sort of "game+" mode where you mostly start over but keep the increased points for game direction earned in the last playthru. All in all a fun, light game with cute retro-pixel style art that is surprisingly addictive.
5 star strategy sim
I don't write a lot of reviews, but I just wanted to say that this game is brilliant! It's a wonderfully crafted sim/strategy game about leading a team of game designers on the quest of creating the best games on the market. Run a studio of your hand picked hired producers, graphic designers, sound engineers, writers and see if you can make the best game on the market and increase your profits and fame! I love this game... So much fun! The pacing is perfect and after my second run through I'm pumping out some new hits of my own... "Titty Twister" and RPG Romance, or "Ball Bat & Glove", or my favorite series "Farout"! I love coming up with my own game titles! Such fun! For .99 this game is a steal! It's worth the price of admission and much more!!! If you love strategy, sims, and video games you will get hours of enjoyment here. -- 5 stars!
This is a great game. I would like a few things tweaked though.
1- better self-make consoles. More options and 64 bit is the highest quality? I love my n64 but it's graphics are nothing compared to even 10 year old game consoles. Also maybe special things, cameras, wifi connections, and touch screens.
2- ability to see rival company games and rankings (so I can see how far off I am)
3- research? Like multiplayer modes and multi-console games. Pricy and effective
4- expansions to game. I had one game that sold 200k units (and this is the point where most games would sale 100k) and it didn't make it onto the hall of fame so I couldn't make a sequel. Expansions would build off previous games success but would only boost the games stats up and return it to market.
