What's New in Version 1.03
- After selecting the shuffle option for the games, it was hard to get the app to stop shuffling. To stop it from only being able to shuffle we taught it how to tango too!
Not too shabby, but has some quirks
I used this alarm for a good few months before I deleted it.
The pros: it let's you use your songs from your iTunes, it's not complicated to use (just slide up to set alarm, slide to the right to set music, and slide to the left for the game you'd like to wake you up), and the games actually wake you up!
The cons: you MUST have the app open (not on lock screen) in order for it to properly go off at the designated time, so make sure you have your phone plugged in because though your screen will get dark if you put your phone face down, it can still kill your battery. Also, if you don't have the app open before you fall asleep then it'll try and wake you up by making the sound of a text message- I don't know about you, but if a text could wake me up then I wouldn't need a game alarm clock app. Also, for me, the games got to where I'd get use to them and they wouldn't do the job of getting me out of bed anymore. There's only 2 games, so there's not much of a variety to choose from. Lastly, after having this app a couple months and making sure I always had the alarm set and app open before falling asleep, it would just quit working. Not sure why, but that was ultimately what led me to delete it. I'm now trying the "Walk up" app to see if it'll perform better.
Hope this helps!
It wakes the entire house up.
I guess I should work on volume control. If I cared more about not getting my adolescent boys up pretty early in the morning. I highly recommend There Might Be Giant's "Seven". Full blast and no mercy.
Since my goal is to get a household of males terribly disturbed at 5:30 in the AM, it doesn't matter that there are only two games to play in the morning. It's not like adding MORE games would improve my hand-eye coordination or, as the great President Bush (Jr.) put it, "strategery." (My iPhone auto-correct says that's not a word, but to suggest anything otherwise would simply be un-American.)
I don't know how the two year old sleeps through it, but that makes it an even better sell for me.
I was having trouble staying out of bed when my alarm went off as I'd turn it off and then get back in bed. This solved that completely. I tried a number of other apps; but, many of them didn't consistently work. This app always goes off. Beating the game to turn the alarm off forces me awake enough to decide not to go back to bed.
The interface is also really beautiful and easy to use. It has weather displayed on it, which is nice. And being able to still use my music to wake up is great.
If you have trouble getting up and not going back to bed this is the app for you!
