Very Cool App
I just bought this app and have been playing with it looking up words for a German paper I have due soon and, I have to say, it's really cool. Unless you're already advanced in German (like 300 level in college) you probably won't be able to use the app to anywhere near it's full potential but if you are more advanced this app has several really cool features. The etymology of the word is given as well as different definitions, examples, phrases that include the word, and even translations into other languages.
My only complaint with the app, other than it asking me every thrid word to write a review, and why it is not getting 5 stars is that it doesn't include quite as many words, especially somewhat archaic words, as some more scholarly dictionaries. It says that it will pull more up if you press a certain button but it warns that it will be slow and I have yet to actually have a word pull up when that button is pushed.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this app to anyone needing a very good, and in-depth German dictionary who's German is already strong enough not to have a problem reading the definition in German. Speed up the extra word search and I'd give it 5 stars.
Has a wealth of information and does searches quickly. I have encountered a few minor differences (errors?) in what this app shows as being correct and what my teacher and the instructional text shows as being correct. As I'm a beginner this is a solid resource and I can also see it as a useful reminder for those who already know German. Still I wish it showed more of the verb conjugations, or provided a conjugation table, and allowed one to simply browse the contents as well. Happy with my purchase.
I speak German fluently, but as it is my second language I forget a word now and then, esp. since I'm not living there now. This works perfectly to jog my memory, and I haven't been unable to find anything. To be fair to other reviews, I haven't tried to read Heidegger or anything with this as my reference, so perhaps you'd see the vocab shortcomings there, but as a quick reference it is great!
