Fun game but buggy
This game is fun and complex enough to keep me interested. I'm glad it has enough interaction and adventure and is not just HOS scenes. The graphics in the movie are kinda crude as another reviewer noted, but once you get into the actual game scenes are better, and the close up views are very detailed. So I'm fine with that. The problem is there are coupla bugs: 1) the sound effects "stick", and instead of, say a clicking or cat meow sound playing once, it plays over and over from that point on, in a loop. Kinda annoying. And the sounds layer over each other, so once you've been playing for a few mins there is this weird cacophony now as your accompaniment. I turned the sound off because couldn't deal with it. The other problem is the tapping areas on the screen aren't always accurate, and I couldn't back out of an HOS once in it. I like this game, but wish they would fix the bugs before buying it.
One of the better games PLUS kitties
Unusual and original art. Lots of kitty-cats. I especially like the hint-monitoring kitty who is animated, and occasionally watches a fly go by. Nice high-res graphics that do not blur when zoomed in.
I have no problems reading the lists on my iPod touch. The inventory list tucks out of the way when not needed, and the rest of the menu icons take up minimal space, allowing for maximum use of screen real estate for the game scenery.
Nice smooth transitions and what I call clickability -- not so easy that you're accidentally selecting stuff, but not so hard that you have to click several times for results. This is really important to me for enjoying the game and it seems to be something a lot of game developers have a hard time with. But then everyone's click preferences aren't necessarily the same.
Directional arrows appear when you need them, by holding down a tap, so you don't need to click all over the bottom of the screen to find your way out. No-fuss use of inventory items, just drag and drop them smoothly, with no annoying gears or stars and all that fanfare.
As you can see, I have kind of a checklist of pluses and minuses of what I like to see in a game, and this one comes out very well.
Pretty good. 3 1/2 🌟
Storyline: Liked the cats. One thing I really didn't understand...the old couple was just recently considered dead and the boy charged for the attack...so, why was their house SO dilapidated?? It looked like no one had lived there for many, many, many years.
Pretty basic. Nothing special. Images are a bit fuzzy around the edges, when you zoom in (on my iPhone 4S). Items, even the one important thing you needed earlier (and have used elsewhere), are still in the HOS when you return later for another go. HOS's are very sensitive to the touch. You can accidentally click multiple items, just by zooming in or scrolling/moving the screen.
I also wish the needed item would always be in the HOS list. It feels weird to be told I've found a burning candle, or something...and yet, that was an item that was never on my list to find.
There were no loading screens, which was awesome!
During gameplay, when you pick up an item...sometimes, as you hit "ok", the down directional arrow is triggered and you're taken back to previous scene.
