Ghost & Goblins

The game itself is fun and brings back good memories of the original; however...

The graphics are on par with a PS1/Nintendo DS game, which honestly is a step back from the graphics used in the 2D sprites on the SNES.

The screen controls are set too far into the playable area and do not respond well. Half of my deaths in game occurred due to the control pad registering my moves incorrectly.

Nothing is more fun or rewarding then trying to move forward and watching your character run the opposite direction, throwing himself off the edge of a cliff!

Overall the game is still enjoyable, I just wish there were options for the size and placement of the controls on screen.

3/5 Stars (Considering that you played and enjoyed the prior games in the series)

The game is a very solid platformer with a really good learning curve. The three things that I hated were falling, going down ladders and getting a weapon that I hate, but besides that the touch controls are good for even the biggest of hands and the game flows well. You also have to learn from mistakes, and unless your IQ shows that you're a couple of chromosomes short of "human", then you should be able to remember what NOT to do. Lancelot is a good pick for people who prefer maneuverablility (Kind of like a "thief" or "ninja" class), but I prefer Arthur due to his simple mechanics and durability.

Elder Lulls

I am a huge fan of this franchise, and Arthur et al. I also recognize the eternal difficulty, no matter one's age, in beating this game, but the iPad controls make the game wretched. They resemble the original NES style, but they appear on the playing screen. Thus, if one moves Arthur or Lancelot to the left, then that side of the screen disappears. Again, I love these old classics, and I openly wonder where the original Legend of Zelda is (!), but until manufacturers can figure a better control system (move the controls off screen so the player can see the screen?!) then these games are simply annoying. The same can be said for the pad's version of Marvel vs Capcom 2; enormous dissapointment!
