“It’s a ridiculously charming game that makes me smile every time I play it.” - Cult of Mac

“It really is quite the delight.” - 148Apps

“The vibrant cartoony visuals are beautifully conspicuous and the fantastic soundtrack compliments the game to a T.” - Toucharcade

Glorkian Warrior: The Trials of Glork is a collaboration between Eisner Award winning cartoonist James Kochalka and indie game studio Pixeljam, makers of the prehistorically epic DINO RUN!

It's a goofy mashup of Galaga-style shoot-em-up, simple platforming action, and Saturday morning cartoon.

Help Glorkian Warrior and his trusty Super Backpack fight against an endless onslaught of alien creatures, and be prepared for anything... the Magic Robot appears when you least expect it, and might shower you with exploding basketballs... or kittens!

Collect energy crackers and power up an awesome arsenal of double lasers, triple lasers and tennis balls while the invaders hypnotize you with their mesmerizing attack patterns. Perhaps you may even uncover the legendary Flarf Gun and save the world.

You will have so much fun trying and dying, again and again.... but no matter how miserable your performance, each play session will add to your progress and unlock new features to keep your fingers and fun zone fully engaged!

Constantly crashing

Here is my review if this didn’t constantly crash:

Super stylish retro-modern arcade shooter

This is a marvelous little game, which has the play and sound-effects of retro-arcade classics, but updates it with hip, funny and lovingly crafted cartoon graphics. It’s obvious that the designers put a lot of thought into this. The game play is pretty basic - a galaxian/space invaders style shooter - with a twist: you can jump up, which you’ll have to do to avoid the nasties wandering along the ground. The alien animation is excellent and frenetic. The developers obviously thought out many different attack patterns, and all the little animation details keeps you engaged. Together with the variations in weapons, alien styles and funky music the game keeps feeling fresh. Super addictive and a steal at $3.99!

Fun and simultaneously low-stress and frenetic

I’ve never seen a Game Over screen so many times in one game, but it lets you keep playing (without starting over) even when you die. Definitely challenging, but encourages you not to rage quit. Nicely complimented by the deadpan despair of the hero, who speaks to me on a deep, emotional level. Visuals are cool design and well-executed, music is good and suits the look, nothing distracts inappropriately from the gameplay. Recommended even for people who don’t normally like “Space Invaders” style gameplay; there’s enough of a twist.

Challenging, but rewarding

The game elements feel familiar, but you can’t pigeonhole Glorkian Warrior into a specific category. All of Pixeljam’s games have so much heart. The art style, animations, sounds, names, everything… Still easily one of the most memorable play experiences.
