Seagate Media

By Seagate Technology

Open iTunes to buy and download apps.

The Seagate Media app gives you easy access to all the photos, videos, music, and documents stored on Seagate Wireless plus, Seagate Central or GoFlex Satellite storage devices. You connect to Seagate Wireless Plus or GoFlex Satellite by simply turning on your device and choosing the “Seagate Wireless” or "GoFlex Satellite" network from your device’s Wi-Fi settings. You can access Seagate Central when connected to your Wi-Fi network. Choose one of the options from the drop down menu to view by category (Videos, Photos, Music or Documents) and then navigate your media library with a traditional file/folder view or choose a visual experience that can include cover art (music & videos) and photo thumbnails.

Seagate Wireless drives create their own Wi-Fi network, so your mobile device can connect directly and stream media without an Internet connection. Videos stream and play using the default media player on your mobile device. With the option to open files with other apps installed on your mobile device, you can play/view content that isn’t supported by default in iOS. The Seagate Media app enables you to upload photos, videos and other files from your mobile device to your Seagate Wireless Plus or Seagate Central drive in full resolution and quality, perfect for offloading files to free up space on your mobile device or for keeping a back-up copy*.

Access your media and the Internet at the same time. Seagate Wireless drives can connect to a nearby Wi-Fi network, such as a coffee shop hotspot or your home router and pass through the Internet connection to your mobile device.

Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

This app requires a Seagate Wireless plus, Seagate Central or GoFlex Satellite storage device.

•Access your media library stored on a Seagate Wireless Plus or GoFlex Satellite storage device.
•Access Seagate Central from the Seagate Media app anywhere you have a Wi-Fi or 3G/4G connection. Be sure to enter your username and password in the “Remote Access” tab in Settings to access Seagate Central when not connected to your home network.
•Stream HD videos and begin playback almost instantly and enjoy your music collection, photo albums, and documents too
•Synchronize with your files on Dropbox and/or GDrive (not available on Seagate Central)
•Create on-the-go music playlist
•Save files to your mobile device to view when not connected to your Seagate Wireless drive or Seagate Central.
•Upload pictures and videos from your mobile device to Seagate Central or Seagate Wireless Plus*
•Airplay Compatible

*Feature not available on GoFlex Satellite mobile storage device.

Angry and Disappointed

iOS8 was released 5 months ago, and yet this app still can't play videos from iTunes the way it was advertised to do from my Seagate Wireless Plus Drive. I feel completely ripped off. Seagate has been say for months they are going to fix it, but they haven't.

They should be offering us all our money back, including shipping both ways, but they aren't.

I'm staying away from Seagate products in the future and chalking this up to "fool me once." This company can't be trusted to tell the truth.

I bought a Seagate NAS device that was supposed to stream my iTunes purchases. It does fine for music, but it fails miserably with any DRM videos (everything in my iTunes library that was purchased). So, it does not work as advertised and I have wasted my money.

Aside from this, the layout of the library leaves much to be desired. The software doesn't appear to pay much attention to the meta data, which leaves my lists of songs and shows in a jumbled mess.
