Thank you for this.

This was an absolutely beautiful game and definitely not what I expected, in a good way. I had no idea what the plot line was for this before I played it, and as a lesbian I have a tendency to become hopeful when I start seeing trends that might hint a character is gay, but then just kind of know that 90% of the time it’s not true, so for this to actually deliver was amazing and heartwarming. It reminds me a lot of myself as a baby gay and it made me really happy. The Gillian Anderson magazine especially made me laugh because god.... that was definitely me, and honestly, definitely still is. Gillian Anderson can get it, that’s just the truth. Anyway, about the game. The dialogue and little notes are the best part of the game, and give it so much personality. The house itself is also decorated in a really realistic and nostalgic way, which I loved. It also just has an air of mystery that I’m inevitably drawn to. It’s just a really, really good game and I enjoyed it a lot. The only possible complaint I could have is how dark it is and I had to strain just to find the light switch a lot of the time but I guess that just adds a bit of realism?

Interesting

I started this game without sound.. I didn’t realize all of the diaries were telling a story in the background.. once I sorted that out I got into the story. The review before mine thought the characters were unrealistic. I actually thought the characters reminded me of my lesbian friends when I was a teenager. The biggest problem I had with this game was OSCAR!!! I found the ouija board and messages from Oscar from the other side.. I was anticipating there being some supernatural element to the story line, but the story of Oscar’s ghost went nowhere. I figured there would be some surprise but that never happened. I also got the drift mom was cheating with a coworker and dad was a depressed failure, but those stories didn’t evolve either. I felt like there were a lot of hints and unnecessary scraps of paper/notes that didn’t relate to the story but almost seemed to be leading to something that just didn’t. I do like these sort of simulations and exploring this old house with secret rooms and doors. It was an entertaining few hours.
