BOOK SNOBS: THIS IS AN APP FOR YOU
Let me start by telling you, I am a book SNOG. Cliche is my adversary (enemy if you don't know what that means). Once I counted the amount of times I cringed while reading a book to show my friend how truly terrible it was. Harsh? We had a good laugh about it. Let's just say it was over 40 times (67, but who's counting? I AM!). Anyways, I simply typed my favorite books into this app and now I'm reading a book good reads suggested and I CANT. PUT. IT. DOWN. It's ruining my sleep. I've been hitting the sack at 1:00 am for the past two nights because I HAVE to know what happens.
Secondly, I always have nostalgia after reading a great book. Is mourning a book pathetic? Welcome to my life. But now I don't have to worry about it being the last good book I read because good reads has one picked for me! This is starting to sound like a Chevy commercial( "Wow, it's been rated most efficient car two years in a row?! Fantastic! I'll buy 5 and then tell all of my friends about it!!)
To conclude, I love this app. And I'm sick of getting the "Rate out app" suggestions. Well that's my review.
Great for readers!
I love this app because it puts almost every part of the Goodreads website at my fingertips. Having a conversation over coffee and your friend recommends a book they've been reading? Add it instantly to your "To Read" list. Trying to remember the author of that great book you read recently? Search by any key words, and once you find it you can see all the other books published by and likes by that author. I can track, search, add books to my reading lists, see what my friends are reading, and compare my reading challenge progress with other members of my book club no matter where I am. And when I'm at the library or bookstore and pick up a new book that I start reading right away, I can scan the barcode to add it instantly to my "Currently Reading" list.
I just wish there was integration with the feature that allows you to instantly check the availability of a book on your list with the local library. I would use that feature the most if it was available in the mobile app too.
I love this app!
If you love to read, this app is what you need. When I was a kid in a small town, I just read all of the books that were available. That meant I read some books that were great and a lot that weren't as great. I didn't care - I loved reading, and those were the books that were available to me. Today the number of books accessible to anyone with internet or modern library access is more than one human could ever read in a lifetime. Goodreads offers (1) a place for you to list the books that you've heard of that you want to read, (2) ratings of books in all genres, and (3) recommendations of books just for you, based upon your ratings of the books that you've already read and ranked! Now when I need a book to read, I go to my list and I know I won't be disappointed. It's like having a personal chef, but for books!
