What's New in Version 1.6.4
Not ready for prime time
The programmers who designed this app must be on the developer's B-Team. They failed to include any mechanism for searching through hundreds of titles for a specific one AND they failed to provide a way for displaying the complete title of the book. The cover icons don't fully display the titles, so, there is no way to identify the title except by opening the book in the reader and navigating to the title page (try doing that for even a few books and see how time-consuming it is).
In addition, there is no way to enlarge the PDF image unless the text can be re-flowed. So we are stuck with incredibly small font for most titles.
Hopefully the developer will soon recognize these shortcomings of the app and will put the experienced programming staff on the job of moving it to prime time quality.
The five-star rating is a vote of confidence that this app will soon become what it has the potential to be.
Could be great. Needs work.
I absolutely love being able to upload my ePub and PDF formatted books to Google books. However, the iOS reader is definitely not ready for the prime time.
Highlighting needs some serious work. Why only 4 bland colors? Do you know that they are very difficult to distinguish for that color blind?
Forcing text selection before actually highlighting is also annoying. And sometimes the text selection just won't work, like when at the bottom of the page. When you attempt to grab one of the corners of the selector/highlighter to drag, the app thinks you're turning the page.
Please bring this app up to par with iBooks and Kindle! I want to use it as my primary reader!
Google Play Ap
I purchased a book to read on this Ap---impossible to read on my iPhone5! I assumed google would offer similar feature to Kindle, whose books I easily read on my phone. But NO! The only way it appears on google is as a photo of each entire page, fit into my little phone screen, with no way to zoom in, and no way to choose a larger typeface. Then, as you may have already learned, google customer service is about as bad as it gets. I waited on the support line for 54 minutes before getting a person, and then, although a very sweet person, he knew nothing, and took 8 more minutes to research and come back, only to suggest that I try what I had already tried, and THEN to suggest I should learn more about using my iPhone.
Disgruntled in NYC.
