Incredibly frustrating to watch video content on this slow-streaming app. Unlike the seamless video of Netflix, Google Play constantly 'buffers' even on a strong wireless connection. Moreover, you can't shop for or download videos directly via the app. It's astounding that Google would allow the general public to download and use this app, when the company has had such stellar product and service offerings to this point. One would expect at least some benefit to using the Google Play app - I bought specifically to work with the Chromecast, another Google product, and I expected them at least to work well together to some extent. Netflix app is much better, though. The picture quality via Google Play is poor (even tho the content is HD) and again we have the 'buffering' problem, about every 5-10 seconds. Very disappointing. I see no reason to try to use this player again. Sorry Google - call me when you've done another round of beta
Very disappointing customer service
I bought the Chromecast in January. It came with $40 in google play credits. I gave it all to my husband for his birthday in March. Now we are snowed in and found a movie on Google play we wanted to watch. The credits expired. We called Google play and asked for $10 to see if we even liked the way it streamed and they were very unhelpful. As far as I am concerned, they lost customers today. I guess I will pay the extra money and get the movie from ITunes.
I have two movies in my library that will not play on my 6+. Thought I had to delete the app and reinstall it but to no avail. Is it because the formats are not supported by Apple? Or is this just an issue of Apple not allowing Google to play its content on this device? Either way I'm very disappointed and hope there is a patch coming soon.
