Customer Reviews

Absolutely horrible and disappointing.

I switched, rather begrudgingly, from Songza but I tried to keep an open mind about Google Play. I appreciated that my playlists were able to transfer over, but that was about all I appreciated. The interface for this app is garbage in comparison. The lack of a "decades" tab seriously upsets me. This is just a colorful Pandora, being able to create stations from artists and songs. It is a failed attempt and merging Songza and Pandora. At this point, I'd really rather use Pandora. The playlists on Google play are not catered for atmosphere, mood, activity, etc like they were on Songza. The concierge is unsuccessful. The ability to browse and search and find new playlists is gone. I am extremely disappointed. I was hoping that being bought out by Google would maybe give Songza more access and therefore more playlists, but that's not the case. It feels like any other music app now; Songza used to feel like some unique music app I could explore and find new obscure music to enjoy. If I could rate Google play 0/5, I would.

Incredibly disappointed in Google. Awful app.

I'm not one of those people who hate change. I welcome change, and though I was nervous about Songza switching to Google, I still gave it a chance. Now that that's out of the way.... Everything I loved about Songza is gone. The playlists are very similar and most are pretty much the same, but they didn't transfer all of them. I miss my sleep inducing soundscapes, I listened to them every single night. The app itself is kind of tricky to use, and it's been pretty glitchy for me. Songza was very user friendly and never glitched, but that cannot be said for this app. This app is not smooth, it is not appealing, it is not easy to use, it is not all of the beautiful things I loved about Songza. When one takes over an app, I think everyone expects it to be of the same quality or better. This cannot be said for Google Play Music. Awful awful awful job, Google. I'm incredibly disappointed.

This app can't beat Songza

I was forced to switch over to Google play after being a daily user of Songza. This app is absolutely horrible and disappointing! If you liked anything about Songza, you will hate this app. It has way too many ads. It destroys any mood. Whether you're trying to sleep, study or just hanging out those ads come in and just distract you from anything you're trying to do. I loved Songza because of the easy music and playlist selection. I loved how easy it was to navigate and the fact that you aren't bombarded with ads. I wouldn't recommend this app to anyone who wants to enjoy music. This app is a joke. The layout is a joke, the amount of ads, everything. Deleted this app within the first 10 minutes of using it. So sad to see Songza go. That was by far my favorite music app ever. R.I.P. Songza.
