What's New in Version 3.11.1009
- Bug fixes.
New version buggy, but the real problem is search!
This new version is kind of creaky; it doesn't work anywhere near as well as it had been working lately and that is true of all platforms… but especially for the iPad! Can't really get it to work at all on iPad Air. The web version won't even scroll at all takes ages to get up and down a list…but that is not the most annoying issue...The real problem I have in GPM is search. For example, let's say you're searching for songs with the word 'heart' in them. Search for 'heart', and you will get hundreds of responses with every variation of the word. The list will include 'Heartbreaker', The Heartbreakers, The band Heart, 'Heart of Stone', but might not include 'Heart of Gold.' So I might think that you don't have 'Heart of gold' but if I search for Neil Young, if I browse through, I will find that you DO have it. Google is synonymous with search! What are you doing? Your search should be so much better, there should be filters... it's crazy how barebones and how inefficient the search feature on GPM is! You are Google!!! Fix your search!!!
Incredible selection and few ads
The free version is amazing in the US. Just pick a song or artist and the app will find songs in the similar vein. The "feeling lucky" button will pick one of the previously picked categories and select greatly accurate selections from that style. Press lucky again for another genre. Compared to Pandora or even Deezer, much better repertoire of international songs.
Cons: missing lyrics and more descriptions, as well as am easy access to songs labeled with thumb up.
If you're a Google Play subscriber this is a must have on iOS
I'm pretty heavy invested in Google Services and only recently switched to iPhone because of the new features in iMessages. The one missing feature in the iOS version that I have noticed is the lack of Podcasts. Podcast are a must have for me on long road trips and flights. Please add podcast, it would very much be appreciated! To compensate I have added Pocketcast but would much rather have it available in theGoogle Play Music app.
