I have used this app on my iPod for a few years now, and I am thankful for the app and use it frequently, mainly to send and receive texts, yet there are some features missing that would otherwise make it much more enjoyable to use.
The first and most frustrating issue I have with the current version of the app is that it does not display a time stamp with the date. I appreciate seeing a date, but it drives me crazy not seeing the time of day of each text as well. The other Google app for Hangouts does a good job of this.
The second issue is not being able to change the notification sound. It would be very nice to customize it in my iPod settings, and even after linking my contact list with the app, having each person's individual notification sound carry over.
The third issue is having so many "threads," if you will, open for each person. I prefer to keep my texts incase I need to refer back to something, instead of deleting them straight away. So, I think I would prefer if each person were their own thread, and messages could be deleted individually, within. All the texts between that contact and me would be under that single thread, under the contact's name, and perhaps the texts could be separated by day (with the date given), and each text could have a time stamp with it, along with the option to star the message.
No, just no.
I've been using Google Voice and this app for years. Some complaints about your latest update via iOS 9.1. You did fix the freezing issue (thank goodness!) when I would slide over to switch apps or using my thumbprint to unlock and it was the only app not functioning. I wrote in about it. So yay that THAT's not happening but what the heck? Why did you have to change the Face of the app. Now, not only is everything huge and I can't change any text sizes in my settings but you took away my Contacts pictures inside each individual texts. It's just the name and number now. And you still haven't brought back time stamps within he app. If I have to see a time stamp I have to frolic all the way to my Browser, sign in if I'm not already, search for the text message I want, and THEN I can get a time stamp. Yay. Can you please just make it convenient and show on the actual text I'm looking at to begin with? Everyone likes it, why do you have to change things we like? Please downsize fonts, main screen contact images so I can see 6 or 7 texts on the main screen and not 4.
Oh yeah and I'll let you know if the crashing issue has been fixed. Cause that happens like every 30 texts sent. Ballpark figure. I'll see if I can count the next few times. I'm hoping that's fixed and I won't have to. =}
Being back time stamps!!!!!
I love google voice / I hate the App but what else can we use? If Google makes this app then it is a sorry example of their company!
Like I said I love Google voice but the app has so many issues, crashes all the time, makes me log in over and over an won't remember even my login name or anything, I can't send photos, but I can see them inside my email, so castrated of an experience from what it could be! Somehow I expected so much more from Google...
Are you listening? If people will pay .99 cents for a stupid app, why not make a really slick profession app and charge a buck a person for it and look good doing it? But it has to have the features we all want! Reliability, time date stamps, MMS, group text option, I like it that responses don go to the list of people I send a message to, group texts get annoying very quickly. I would be willing to Beta Test!
