What's New in Version 2.1
Bug fixes and performance improvements
Love the service, not crazy about the latest update
I am a total GV fan and extremely thankful for the service which I would gladly pay for. Now, considering this is a free service and a free app it seems ungrateful to criticize but my intent is to provide feedback rather than complain.
Since the last update the app (on iPhone 6, iOS 10.2.1) is SLOW! It takes forever to show new messages/voicemail and when searching for a contact, it takes a few seconds for each letter! Another aspect of the update I am not crazy about is the way the dial screen works; you can either input a number on the keypad (default) or if you would like to search by name, you have to touch a keyboard icon which then takes forever to bring it up and another forever for each letter you type. Not sure why this massive slowdown but I am at a point where I am looking for an alternate app for GV
Good update but...
It's a good refresher to the old app. Hangouts was okay, but I know sometimes I wouldn't get my text messages and it would be very delayed. This alleviated that issue. What would make it better is it would log me off nonchalantly and every time I open the app I have to pick a phone number and re-login. So it's then making me wonder if I'm getting my text messages or not because I'm not logged in. Also, when I reply to a text, it counts it as a new message so when I exit out of the app, the badge app counts it as 1 new notification. So you would have to go back in, refresh, and it'll clear the badge icon count. I hope to see more improvements nonetheless! Great job so far!
Great, but could be better
Like the look and feel of the new version, but so slow (on iPhone 6) and takes forever to update that a message was read...
I love Google voice and use it as my main number. I can be out of the country and text through wifi or local SIM card for free both ways as if I was home. Wish I could do pictures as people forget and keep sending stuff. Also the app should keep a local cache of the messages to make it faster and let me see or write messages when I'm outside a service area. If they had that, I'd give it 5* for the great functionality.
