I. Am. Blown. Away.

I have no idea where to start. I recently had my GoPro Hero 3 die and I have tried everything I know to do to fix it but it would not film videos right. Granted this GoPro is over 6 years and I filmed tons and tons and tons with it. It was my main camera for everything so I took it everywhere. I did not want to get a new GoPro because I was afraid that it might not work or fail at an extraordinary moment that I could never again see. I have bought a GP Hero 7 Black and I can seriously not say enough. It has blown me away as a camera all the things that they have improved, fixed, made easier, more fun, interactive etc. The stabilization is amazing and I love it. It is one of those things you don’t know about until you have it then you always want to have it. The software (Quik, GoPro software, Splice, Quik Desktop, GoPro app for iPhone) is fast and able to keep up with me. The joining (through the app by joining the wifi feature on the new GoPro through the app) is truly awesome and helpful. Another one of those things you have and you don’t know you have it but then you don’t want to leave it. GoPro is really one of my favorite new companies.

This nickname thing is dumb ,

Very frustrating app

While their kiosks want to show off that GoPro’s products are ideal for adventurous people in remote locations, their software reveals that their real market is people who want to take selfies and post them immediately to every social media outlet in the world. This software’s focus on “Sharing” is maddening. Be sure not to click on the “Quick” icon or you’ll be trapped in a “Get GoPro Quick” page – you have to force quit and re-launch to get back to the app. Basic interface features such as easy and quick navigation between shooting and post-production are missing, and the software’s lack of correct rotation on my iPad is maddening. On the one hand, this app is just poorly designed, on the other hand, the screwed up orientation just makes it seem like it’s still in beta. The Fusion camera I’m using is great, and when I can finally managed to get output from the app and saved to my LOCAL device – I’m not interested in Sharing, GoPro! – I’m really pleased with the results. Stop trying to appeal to idiot, selfie-driven teenagers and add options to let us users who are serious about real post-production more quickly get to our tools.

Oh! And when you export an image from the app all location and time metadata is stripped out! Really? In this day and age??

The GoPro App is a Joke...

I normally don’t write reviews for the apps that I download, but I thought I would make a special exception for this one...

The connectivity to my phone using WiFi isn’t reason for the one star... it is the fact that the preview signal from the camera to the app (so you can preview the picture before you record), almost never comes through. I have to disconnect the camera from my phone and then reconnect it. AND THEN... if by some chance you do get a preview picture of what the camera is seeing, the preview is so “laggy” that the preview appears to be frozen... then after almost five minutes of watching a frozen picture, the video speeds up to catch up with the current view and starts the lag all over again making it useless. I could understand if the camera and phone were more than 10+ feet apart in distance, but then the app struggles with the preview video from only two feet away, the app is pointless to use. If any problems with connectivity would have happened, I would’ve guess that it would have been from the GoPro camera to the phone... not with the GoPro camera to the GoPro app.

Developer Response ,

Sorry to hear you're having issues. Please 1. Delete camera entry from app, 2.Forget Bluetooth in iOS settings, 3.Forget camera wifi in iOS Settings and 4.Put camera in pairing mode and re-pair. You should be able to get live preview back afterwards.
