Learning... at a price (your personal information)
I was very excited when I heard about grasshopper. It’s from Google, so I had high expectations for this app. I wanted to try it out and see if I could use it help teach my kid. Well, I’m never going to have that opportunity as the first thing the app asks is to sign in using a google account which will share data about you. I can see no reason whatsoever why Google should *require* you to sign in to use this app. Google team, if your goal is to be altruistic and provide a public service then just make the app available without requiring sign-in and user tracking. This is pretty shameful especially in light of the Facebook revelations. This is just tone deaf. Quit the tracking!
Great for at home summer school
I was searching around for a coding summer camp for my kids when I discovered this app. My son, 10 years old, loved it so much I had to tell him to stop because he was getting too far ahead of me! My daughter, 12, kept saying “this is so cool, so cool!” They learned about functions, variables and strings in the first ten minutes! The learning structure is sound with an intro, an exercise, and Quiz after each learning milestone. Thankful in Austin.
Easy to follow and FREE
I’ve been trying out a bunch of coding apps lately but I always end up deleting them because they all require payment to unlock other courses. But not Grasshopper, unlike other apps, Grasshopper was really easy to follow, it was simple and it explains concepts quite well. You don’t have to pay a cent for this and that really shows that the developers just want to share their knowledge.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
