GreatCall Link allows friends and family members to learn about what’s going on with the 5Star device carrier they are connected with.
The Link app can:
· Send a notification when the connected device is used to call for help
· Show that the device is on or off and current power level
· Locate the user’s device on a map
GreatCall products are equipped with patented GPS technology. The Link app uses this technology to pull location information a few times per hour. Real-time location information is only provided upon app user’s request, within the app. Location accuracy improves with use, over time.

“I started using 5Star and GreatCall Link as a result of a visit with my 81-year-old mother. She had a serious fall, but fortunately I was in the hall and it only took me a few minutes to get to her. When I found her, even though she had a cell phone, she was too discombobulated to use it. Luckily I was there, otherwise it could have been two days until I talked to her again. That solidified my resolve that we needed to move forward in getting a device. A friend of mine had bought the 5Star and I can’t say enough about it. Then I saw that there was an app available. Location is a primary benefit of the app. I put in her favorite locations and routine. The other feature that is extraordinary is that I can see if the unit is on and the status of the battery. My mom normally plugs in the unit when she’s asleep. Every once in a while I’ll see the power level go down so I ask her about it. My favorite feature is the GPS and location service. I have the ability to look at the map and see physically where she is and where she has been recently. I look at the app at least once a day. If you have a family member that’s mobile and out-and-about, the kind of reassurance that comes with the GPS is significant.”

What's New in Version 1.14
I am finding the app to be somewhat useless at this time and frankly, a waste of money. It almost never pinpoints my mother's location precisely and since the senior center she goes to almost daily, is within 1/4 mile of her house, it can't differentiate between her home and the center. The end of the week review tell me that she never left her home. I am constantly rebooting the location finder as well as having my mom turn the e called device off and rebooting it as well. Sometimes the app tells me it was unable to locate my mother when I know for a fact that she is sitting in her living room chair with the greatcall splash around her neck. I think until the app is more precise, the $4.99 extra a month should be waived. Lately the app is showing me that the device is not in the charger when I know for a fact that it is and there are times it looks like it's in the charger when I know for a fact
it's not. When the device is in the charger, it lets me know that my mom went to bed and when I see it fully charged at 2am it caused me great anxiety. I've even called her in the middle and woke her up because the device failed to show it was in the charger. I'm currently having a problem with app now. I deleted the app a few times, but the problem still exists. It's extremely frustrating.

Got a Jitterbug5 for my 89 year old dad who still gets out and about and needs an easy phone to use with an emergency panic button. The link app has worked flawlessly on my iPhone and always locates him within 30 feet: Love being able to locate him at any time. We have very good Verizon coverage in our area and maybe others have had spotty coverage, but I LOVE this app. I just checked to see that he got to his volunteer position . Never had a problem with support.

This app allows you to know that status of your loved one 24 hours a day! It's priceless. I'm 424 miles from my 90 year old Mother and I can even tell when the device needs to be charged. It can be used to locate someone that becomes lost if they are unable to communicate with you or others.
A must have!
