Love it—integrate Siri in future updates?
This app works like a charm with its multi food and flipping reminders. Well designed and extremely useful. Would be even more convenient to auto start timers with Siri when your hands are full! Maybe in the future...
Constructive Criticism - More Alarms
I personally love this app because it really helped me start out grilling. I’ve used many of the recommendations in the app and my food turned out great. I love the layout the recipes, and everything except one thing. The custom recipes/alarm timing. Currently, in the custom area, you can only set a time and it defaults to flip when halfway done. It would be much more useful if you could set multiple alarms in one recipe. Such as something that has to be cooked on all sides and needs to be flipped at a 1/4 done, 2/4 done, and 3/4 done through the set time instead of just flipping it halfway. This also goes for some of the preset recipes. Ex. The hot dog recipe says to leave it on the grill for 8 minutes, and then rolling the hot dog every 2 minutes. When you use the timer the only time the alarm goes off is once the 8 minutes is up. If the alarm went off every two minutes then that would prevent me from having to constantly check my phone (with my meat-juicy hands) to see when two minutes hit. This is a small fix but this would help sooooo much. Thanks
Needs work.
At present this a timer with some instructions. The times given are pretty close if using an evenly heated grill, and no app would be able to ascertain differently heated areas, that's up to the user.
Some of the things it needs, besides a more intuitive UI...
1. An option for flipping alarms. The default wakes people in neighboring houses.
2. A synchronized start time that allows you to start the item taking the longest to grill and then notifies you when to start the next longest, etc. This would result with everything finishing at the same time without requiring you to devote your full attention to grilling and instead being able to enjoy your beer, wine, and friends.
3. Mini notifications that tell you when to flip things requiring more than one flip. Sausages for example.
4. And flipping an item requiring only one flip isn't exactly half of the total cooking time. Most meat needs a little longer on the first side than time on the other side.
If these things were included, I'd be willing to pay $3.99 to $4.99 a year.
