What's New in Version 2.2.2
We've been working hard on more great updates. Here's what's new in version 2.2.2:
+ Optimized for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus devices
+ Fixed a bug causing favorites to disappear
+ Major stability work. We've resolved a huge number of crashes, resulting in our most stable release to date.
+ Fixed a bug that would case the grid of guys to go blank when applying filters
+ Fixed a bug that caused the grid of guys to load slowly when you first launch the app
+ Optimized the profile to show more lines of text on smaller devices
+ Fixed a few bugs that would allow you to continue to interacting with a guy after a block
+ Small UI improvements
Grindr is working extremely hard to resolve the spam issue current affecting users. We are also aware of issues with blocking, favoriting and errors loading more guys on the grid. We are doing all we can to resolve these issues as quickly as possible, and we apologize for the inconvenience.
As always, if you experience problems with the app, please contact or support team by tapping 'Help' in the side menu.
I found the love of my life on Grindr
First of all... I don't get why so many men bash this app. The way I see it, grindr is just a way for guys to communicate with others nearby, and we (the gay men) exacerbated it to something different. People refer to it as a hook up app or something that is ruining gay society. When in all reality, the only parts of it that ruin gay society are the people who use it. Personally I don't have a single problem with grindr. When I needed to find a guy to mess around with, I did. And when I just wanted to talk, that what I did then as well. But eventually I found a guy, when I was finished with the whole "meeting up" thing, who changed my life. That man is my boyfriend of over a year, and I've never loved someone so deeply before. So I want to thank Grindr and its creators for allowing me to connect with such a special man, aid in my coming out process, and just providing an app that does work, provided your messages aren't deleted!
There's a blocking limit, really? So if you feel threatened or uncomfortable, or see someone you really don't want to see, you're out of luck. Being able to block should be a right, not a privilege. I mean you already make us view an advertisement no one really cares about when we do block someone. I hope hornet becomes the gay social norm instead of this thing. I can't believe xtra users pay MONTHLY for this garbage. Grindr knows that it is infamous for message bugs, and overall slowness and glitches. One picture per profile? Obviously people use a really really nice photo, but multiple photos would let someone get a good idea of the person so they know whether or not they are their "type." Grindr, you are a shame to humanity. Get rid of monthly subscription, make grindr xtra a one time $1, $5, or even $10 purchase from the App Store. Your prices and product quality are so unbalanced I almost want to cry for you. Seriously, get. it. together.
The problem here is technical, not cultural.
Those complaining about how this app perpetuates harmful stereotypes about gay men, and how we're all shallow, horny creatures and blah blah blah are missing the point of this app. It's a hookup app, plain and simple. If you were really expecting to find meaningful conversation and gay brotherhood here, that's on you. It's hardly our job as gay men to defy stereotypes thrust upon us by our heteronormative society anyway.
With all that being said, the app is trash. It crashes, it glitches, it becomes completely unresponsive, the list goes on and on. With every successive update that purports to fix twenty different bugs, another twenty new bugs crop up. I can't even block anyone with this latest update.
