Best grocery/project list

Update: I had paid for the ad free version, but now you have to have a subscription. I am disappointed, but the app is too good to give up. I would rather pay than have them abandon this app. It is too valuable!

Tired of forgetting what you need from the store? Grocery or Home Depot or pet store - any list that you need. I have tried all the other apps. It is excellent and I reference it everyday. I can take pictures of products so my husband will know exactly what to buy. I can enter or scan UPC codes to make sure he gets the right size and type (e.g. Vitamins- capsule vs. tablet). I even use categories for clothing and home stores. Anytime I think I need to buy something I enter it onto this list. I have a garage sale list and a dollar store list. Excellent for individual projects such as building something. List anything! Great for husband n wife communication!

Great App

My wife has been using this app for everything she buys for the last 5 years. She has 19 lists for different stores or markets. She even adds photos and UPC codes although this is not required. The lists she makes synchronize to my phone and I can easily do the shopping.

I also bought the paid app and then had to buy a subscription. So the company made a mistake in their revenue projections... the app is so good, it is EASILY worth 99 cents a year, or you can look at ads to use it for free. For those who are struggling to pay 99 cents a year, don't buy this app because you won't have anything on your lists.

So if you guys keep moaning and groaning about the paid subscriptions and giving bad reviews, that will hurt the sales of this app and maybe you won't have any version to use. So lighten up. It really is a prime example of a well executed app that pays attention to small details.

They give, then they take away...

I paid full price for Grocery Gadget back in 2012, and was a happy user for several years.

After a final release (4.3.1) on May 2, 2014, the app apparently went dormant, as the developer (Pingwell) stopped posting new updates. That was fine, though, because everything still worked well.

On March 30, 2016, however, after an almost 2-year hiatus, the developer posted a new "5.0" update, supposedly consisting of one new feature (an "All Lists" consolidated list), and "bug fixes".

What they DIDN'T mention is that they ALSO introduced ads back into the app.

Dear Pingwell: You. Do. Not. Get. To. Do. That.

I **PAID** for an ad-free experience, and you've reneged on the deal. If you wanted to switch to a subscription model, you were more than welcome to create a NEW app ("Grocery Gadget Beyond", or some such), and ask people to switch over to that.

You DON'T, however, get to (effectively) steal what that people have paid for by taking it away and replacing it with an inferior product.

To anyone wondering whether you can trust Pingwell to deliver lasting value for your money -- the answer is no. They've demonstrated their willingness to cheat their customers whenever it benefits their bottom line, and you would be a fool to reward them with your money.
