My "Go To" for Goods & Travel Deals
We have taken advantage of many Groupons over the past several years. I primarily use it for two things: Goods & Travel, and occasionally, eateries. I have generally been very satisfied w/the Goods purchased, although some clothing was not quite the quality that I'd hoped. But at G's prices, there really isn't much to complain about. After all, purchasing clothing & shoes online can be tricky w/out first trying them on. The few times that I chose to return merchandise, I never had a problem.
My husband & I often stay someplace fairly close to home over a weekend, & always use a Groupon for hotel, and sometimes eateries. Most prices of the Groupons are at least 1/2 of what the normal rate would be. Because of this, we've often stayed in nicer places than we might have otherwise. You still take a chance if you don't know anything about the location, but you'd run a risk picking something that's not as great as you'd hoped anyway, even when spending full price.
A word of caution: when purchasing a Groupon, be sure to check the expiration date. You never lose the $$ that you spent on it, but you totally lose the 1/2 off deal. Been there, done that - several times, I'm sorry to say.
I've had so many problems dealing with the customer service at Groupon that the deal I got hasn't even been worth it. It was for a fantastic restaurant that I will be frequenting again. However, the first time I tried to purchase the Groupon it failed. So I spoke with the online chat customer service through the app. They tried to complete my order & I asked them to use the 20% coupon that was available. The ordered failed again. So I left the online chat to purchase the Groupon myself since I was already at the restaurant. It went through. Then I go to my Groupon list & see 4 Groupons for the same restaurant. 2 failed, 1 used, & 1 other. I don't purchase Groupons at full price & the 4th was at full price. So I contacted customer service via online chat & email & they both refused to refund or even give me a credit for this purchase that I did not authorize. I will not be purchasing through them again & will warn everyone I know not to as well. If your card is linked they may take money from you for purchases you do not authorize. Beware. This is the first time I have ever left a negative review for anything in my entire life.

Wow. Very impressed with Groupon. I honestly haven't used this app or website in over 6 months, but I randomly logged on last night and realized my wife never used a massage voucher I bought for a gift. The massage person kept not returning calls. Then I seen the voucher was expired.
Well, I sent an email just seeing if I was eligible for a refund or credit. Figured I stood no chance since it expired well over 6 months ago. Low and behold, 30 minutes later, a message appeared in my inbox stating they were sorry to hear of our bad experience. And they gave me my $45 back in Groupon bucks! Awesome. Talk about justice. I've already used it and they got a dollar and some change from me on a purchase. A win win for both of us I'd say.
