What's New in Version 3.11
Thanks for using the Groupon app! Here at Groupon, we strive to deliver the best deals to you by improving your experience every time we release a new version of our app. Our updates include many new features, improvements and bug fixes.
Some issues are extremely annoying.
Deals are great BUT there are several interface issues that make the mobile app extremely frustrating. First is the notifications, turned them off and they STILL pop up ever single time I unlock my phone. Second is the buy it now button at the bottom, it charges whatever card you have on file right away instead of letting you edit the order. Page layout forces you to have to REMEMBER to scroll all the way to the bottom the offer (annoying as it is already) in order to choose a different card or buy as a gift. Third, if you forget or accidentally hit the buy button there is no "are you sure?" confirmation and it charges your card IMMEDIATELY, if you cancel the instant after, it takes 2-3 business to refund and you end up getting hit with a double charge. READ THIS GROUPON!!! FIX IT!!! NAO!!!
This sight is awesome for products or services that do not require delivery and cost less than $200. Beyond that, their commitment to "24 hour communication" is suspect at best! It makes me wonder about some of their bigger ticket vendors and whether they're on the up & up! I ordered a 65" TV at a great price and it came DESTROYED!! Three different major cracks in the screen! I haven't heard from them in three days and we're heading into the weekend! I did get their survey asking for feedback on customer support...which of course was awful! Come tomorrow, I'll be disputing the charge with my credit card company and let them figure it out! Oh...and the one thing they CLEARLY don't want is actual physical communication. Try finding a call in number on their website...which is the only place you can actually file a complaint!! Horrible experience! Will use them but not for anything over $100 which requires shipping!
One click buying is a problem
I really like Groupon although I would never buy another food or drink deal. There are so many requirements by the restaurants to meet the criteria that allows you to use the coupon, you end up spending just as much as you would without a coupon.
The one click buying has gotten me in so much trouble with my bank, costing me overdraft fees, etc. that I don't buy anything anymore, I just browse. being able to instantly cancel wasn't instant enough apparently.
And finally, many of the electronic gadgets, watches, clothing, etc can be bought on Geek or Wish for a fraction of the price with shipping that's usually around a buck or two if it's not free. The only hang up with these sites is that you are buying from from China so the shipping is slow. So if you aren't in a rush, cut out the middle man and buy from Geek. I just bought a double USB car charger for a buck and shipping was a buck.
