Half way there..

C. Patrissi

This app is absolutely wonderful--it has so many great features! I moved to a new property in January, so once spring rolled around things started popping up and I had no idea what some things were. Thankfully with this app, I can just snap a pic, upload it and generally get a response within a day or two. I also love to show off what I'm growing to my fellow gardeners. There are some minor adjustments needed to be made though... There should be an edit feature incase the plant is initially improperly identified. The edit feature would also be helpful incase the commenters do not formally identify the plant name OR incase you, yourself figure out what the plant is before anyone gives you a suggestion. I would also like the ability to see who my "followers" are. I don't have much information on my profile, but even so, I would still like to know what members are following me--maybe I'd like to follow them back? It would also be nice to get an alert when someone comments on your plants, so I don't have to go back and incessantly check for a response. I also think you should have the ability to delete plants you have added (incase you add the same one twice on accident--yes it's happened!) :) I think with these improvements this app would really go to the next level!

Has potential, needs A LOT more work

I love learning about plants. It has become a new hobby for me. Initially I used this app to identify a huge bush that was growing in my backyard. I have since found a couple of Facebook groups that are better for plant ID, though.

However, here's my beef: if the plant isn't listed in the app, you can't add it. I found a Desert Marigold growing in my front yard a few days ago and thought, "Wouldn't it be nice to add this so other people can know what this is if they find it in THEIR front yards?" I went to add it to my profile, but because the Desert Marigold isn't in their servers, I can't add it AT ALL. I have the option of emailing the GrowIt team about it with the possibility that it MAY get added. No guarantees, though. The same issue is present for people who post pictures of plants they want others identified: if it's not on the list, you can't help them ID the plant. However, you can leave a comment that I hope they can see.

Like my headline states, this app has potential, but needs quite a bit of work.

Impressive! The app and it creators! Just keeps getting better...

I will be honest here... I did not give this app a very good rating in my original review, I really wanted it to work because I liked the concept it embodied, garden socially. I suggested in my previous review that they listen to the suggestions of its users. Months went by and I even forgot that I had ever written a review. (Which is probably why most of the negative reviews on here are completely outdated) Myself and a few others started attaching our recommendations for improvements to the 'additional comments' section when adding new plants to the system. Well we heard back from the GrowIt team and even directly from it's co-founders! They seemed appreciative of our suggestions, were preparing to implement some of them, and then even asked for more! It feels like I have a team working for me to develop my app while I'm busy working away in the garden. What up app does that?! GROWIT! They updated the app and it looks great! It does everything it claims. I've even made quite a few new friends.

It may not be perfect (rarely anything is)
but as far as I can tell...
The only thing missing now is you.

With every new profile created, GrowIt grows brighter and brighter.
You really can garden socially...
