Being a retired Project Manager, I have had a lot of experience with tracking a lot of projects from the white board meetings to the ribbon cutting . This program really surprised me. I just got my new iPhone 6 Plus and started looking for productivity software. I started looking for Project Management and was not impressed, at least with what I found. Then while looking for a to-do app, I came across gTask Pro. It looked and felt like a very solid app. So, I upgraded to the Pro series. This is where the excitement started. It was something I over looked in a to-do app. It showed Project half way down. I kicked the tires for about a week, love the sub-categories. This was the app I was looking for, not to strong and not to weak. (Perfect)
This is a 5 star app, even though it's missing one key element. A budget (Income vs. Expense). That's it boys, start a project with all your budget money "Budget Box" and with all your expenses "Expense Box". The budget box should be a "Static Container" while the expense box should be a an all level "Dynamic Expense Container" which the top level Expense Container would tally the very last expense box, back up through all Sub-Levels for a grand total of all expenses place in the Expense Container. Oh, and of course we would need a "Variable Container " so we could see where we stand to our "Budget".
I'm doing a restoration on my 1977 Corvette. I have chosen the gTask Pro app as my Project Management Software, of choice.
Makes Google tasks the way to go
For years I used the donation-ware GoTasks app to make Google Tasks usable. GTasks is even better. The flexible options for setting up repeating tasks alone are worth the price.
I especially like using a feature that I haven't found on my other apps: I can selectively add one or more of my calendars, and then GTasks displays a single list which includes the tasks from Google Tasks plus the events that I've added to specific days on those calendars. Utterly great!! I look in one place and see both my tasks for the day and events from my calendar. It's also useful to be able to set notifications to remind me to start working on a task.
I use GTasks mostly for to-do lists, say bills to pay by date and errands to run, also by date. I also have a list called Shopping List whose items don't have due dates. Neat to pull that list up in a store and click Done to disappear each item as it goes into my cart. Thus the list simplifies as I go. Later I'll display completed items and uncheck those items I then need to start a new shopping list.
Finally I've found it
Over the past year or so I've tried AnyDo, Reminders, HomeRoutine, Workflowy... ad nauseum. None of them were right. gTasks Pro is the task manager app I've been looking for. I've only been using it for a few days, but it's lightyears better than the other apps I've tried. So glad to have found it. One suggestion-- it would be nice to have an archive function which would allow you to keep a record of some completed tasks. For instance last year's Christmas card or gift list would be nice to grab next year, or the trip prep list you used on your last vacation or business trip. Despite that, great app and I'm happy to pay for Pro.
