Guardian by Elexa is a standalone leak and flood detection/prevention system that installs with no tools or plumber, and can automatically notify you on your smart phone or shut off your water main if water is detected in your home. Guardian currently consists of two pieces of hardware - the Valve Controller and the Water Detector. The Valve Controller installs on top of the existing water main valve and can be used with any ¼-turn ball valve from ½” - 1”, while the battery-powered Water Detectors are placed near plumbing fixtures and appliances to monitor the area for water leaks. The Water Detectors communicate wirelessly over a proprietary RF protocol with a max range of 1000 ft. directly with the Valve Controller (with no Hub,) and the moment water is detected, the Valve Controller will either notify the user and/or stop the water automatically.
Valve Controller Features Include:
-Simple DIY installation with out tools or plumber
-Valve stall detection
-Optional battery backup
-Support for 100+ connected sensor
Water Detector Features Include:
-Three Stage water detection
-15 Year battery life
-Optional Magnetic mount

Ratings and Reviews
Once Installed, great product!
Through many support emails, I discovered that if you setup with an older OS iPhone it will work. Then, it’s readily accessible and usable on your updated phone or iPad. So far, works like a charm! I’m so glad I have piece of mind now and actually don’t feel wary leaving the washing machine going when I leave the house. I’ll get more wireless detectors soon.
Due to a recent update to iPhone hardware/software, iPhone X can experience problems communicating with some of the Guardian units via Bluetooth. This only affects the initial setup. We have deployed a firmware update that addresses this issue. In order to work around this problem, you need to configure the Guardian system using different iPhone/iPad. After that, you can use your iPhone X to control and monitor your system. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. For more help please contact guardian support team.
Great app! Instant peace of mind
Easy to setup app. All the devices connected to my phone in minutes. Now I can control my valve and get notifications if any water is detected. I highly recommend this app/system if you own a home!
Thank you for your support. Let's stop water damage together!
Setup process was buggy; experience improved once installed
Latest update at the bottom..
This app seems to be pre-alpha, as if an executive saw the mocked up demo and said “that looks great, ship it!”
Typos galore— even the error messages have typos. And you will likely see a lot of error messages if the setup process doesn’t go exactly correctly. Which it won’t, if you are running iOS 11.2, which apparently borks up the required Bluetooth handshake.
Tip: when you get the message “Ops[sic]! Impossible to connect to device” hit “try again” a bunch times, it might eventually connect. Do NOT make the grievous mistake of having the valve in the open position when you start the calibration process! That ruins everything and seems to put the app and device in a permanent state of confusion about what part of the setup process they’re in. I gave up for the day and will try again later. There seems to be absolutely zero handling of “alternative paths” or error handling, because the error messages are frequent, often misspelled, or the app will simply crash completely and dump you back to your home screen.
I gave it two stars because tech support was easy to contact, but I’ll need to make another call to finish up.
May 7 2018 update...
Tech support helped me past the initial glitches and they were extremely helpful. Once everything is set up, the app just does what it’s supposed to. Clean interface, limited functionality, but then again you shouldn’t expect to be messing with your water valve that much! Bumping to 3 stars, but there are still some remaining incompatibilities with iPhone X that have yet to be resolved. If your only iOS device is an iPhone X you will not be able to set up the device at all, due to UI bugs that prevent some of the configuration panes from displaying. You’ll have to use an iPad or older iPhone in order to set up and manage the Guardian hardware.
Jason, thank you for your input. Guardian setup process was designed to detect and correct any valve position during the calibration. You would not be able to finish the setup process unless the valve is completely calibrated. Please contact our support team to check the physical installation and go over the issues you are experiencing.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
