Junky and Sketchy
Ever wonder what an out of tune guitar sounds like on an iPhone? Here's your chance to find out.
It's sad that the main point of the app isn't the guitar, it's the advertising. Their hope here is that you accidentally press YES on one of the pop ups, advertising a different app while attempting to position a chord. They pop up every 5-10 seconds right in front of everything so you won't miss them!
Between pop ups, you can look forward to an awful sounding guitar with frets that do not resemble the actual notes that they should.
I thought it'd be cool to check out a guitar app and figured I'd start with a free one, but this is so awful that it made me realize how stupid a guitar on iPhone is, even if it wasn't total crap...which, by the way, this one is...
I don't think "it's free so don't complain" is a good point either. Free doesn't give any app the right to be crappy. The ads were what annoyed me most. All that was accomplished here is that Ill be sure to avoid any app made by this company in the future...which, by the way, is called "Sexy Fun Dating", pretty obvious by their name that their goal here is to scam you with their pop ups disguised as a guitar...
By the way...why does it seem that ALL the 5 star ratings sound like they were written by the same person (slight broken English, moronic compliments)? Hmmm...sure seems like some creator fraud BS reviews to me. No one in their right mind could like this at all, let alone THAT much.
Note for Musicians: worse than a toy instrument
-Some people complain that the fretboard is too short. (I didn't mind that, because you can play many common chords with only three frets).
-Others complain that the strings and/or frets aren't sized according to scale, (but c'mon--who expects a perfectly-sized guitar simulation on your iphone?!)
-The vast majority of others are complaining about how the guitar is tuned, (yet each string is actually set perfectly to the standard EADGBE tuning).
**The real problem with this app is the tonal intervals between frets**
On a real guitar, there is only a half-step difference between each fret. On this annoying app, the intervals are very different:
-First fret: This interval is a major 3rd above the open string, (which is actually the FOURTH fret on real guitar).
-Second fret: This is the hideous minor 6th, (or the EIGHTH fret on a real guitar).
-Third fret: Perfect octave, (really the TWELFTH fret).
Contrary to those who find the guitar "out of tune," this is the actual guide to what notes will be played. There is a system, consistent across perfectly tuned strings, but it's an extremely stupid system that severely limits your ability to play many chords or melodies that sound very good at all.
**Unless serious updates are made, this app will entertain no one... except perhaps the simplest among people, content with the fact that you can strum and change the notes at all. **
a good waste of 2 mins
This app was okay.... it only had a couple of frets avaliable to play, and the notes seemed wrong... I play all the time and the notes on this fret board do not go in much of any order at all other than the low E to the high e seemed correct... and there is no way to switch the guitar sounds your completely stuck with one sound of the guitar; no distortion or wahwah and what not........all in all the downloader of this app will experence the ability to play the intro to nothing else matters by metallica and the ability to strum like crazy making annoying notes that will continue to play for about 35 seconds eventhough you have already stopped playing! if your bored and are downloading apps like i was you will like it for 2 mins and delete the next chance you get.
