Awaken is meditation for looking at our emotions, exploring our bodies, and seeing the ways we’ve been conditioned by the world around us and its dominant ideologies. Each practice includes an opportunity to journal and connect with members of the community. We're led by renowned teachers on the cutting edge of mindfulness and social change: Rev. angel Kyodo williams, Lama Rod Owens, and Greg Snyder.
A few meditations are offered free of charge. For access to the full library, sign up for Monthly or Yearly Membership! We also offer subsidized membership for those in need of financial assistance.
Payment for memberships will be charged to iTunes Account at confirmation of purchase, and will automatically renew within 24-hours prior to the end of each period at your regular price. Subscriptions may be managed by the user and auto-renewal may be turned off by going to the user's Account Settings after purchase. Any unused portion of a free trial period, if offered, will be forfeited when the user purchases a subscription to that publication, where applicable.
This version has a brand new feature you're going to love - the ability to add time for silent practice to meditations. In these meditations, the technique is explained at the start, and you can practice for however long you'd like. Try it out and let us know what you think!

No strength without balance
This is the app I didn’t know I needed in my life. As someone who cares a lot about justice issues, I felt a large degree of helplessness and burnout in my approach, and felt a kind of internal resistance to some of the language and energy used in activist communities that I otherwise align with. As in communities that stand for justice but use hateful tactics to approach their opponents.
I’d also tried “mindfulness” in many forms before, but kept coming out of it, feeling that it was kind of selfish to focus on my own inner peace and self-care while there is so much work to do in the world.
The teachers and founders of this app are doing both kinds of work and helping me to learn that there is no outer change without inner change. I’m so grateful to have found it. There’s enough here to help anyone who is open to it, and plenty more out there to read and listen to from these and other teachers who are helping everyone do this work towards change. This has been a great primer on this kind of work for me. Thanks, Awaken.
The only mediation app that connects to the cultural moment
I’ve found that the meditations and practices on Awaken help me peel back the layers on the world and myself, so I can both be more conscious and do the healing I need to live a fuller life.
How does my personal expression connect to the larger cultural moment? I’ve been wanting to look inside myself to better understand my unconscious patterns of patriarchy, for example. Awaken goes beyond just the basics of mindfulness and helps me explore these questions.
Inspiring & Insightful
I’m only a few meditations in and am learning so much about the connection between inner work and outer work involved in social justice. I highly recommend Awaken to awaken your conscious to the work that’s needed to create a more just world.
