A lifesaver that works as it should
I have made 5 purchases now and I haven’t experienced any of the problems that others have noted. It works perfectly for me. I am guessing that the other reviewers are either a) trying to use it through Google’s problematic Wallet app (I’m sure the kinks will be ironed out soon—it’s Google—but right now it has a lot of issues), or b) the clerk doesn’t know how to run e-Gift cards. The latter may be more likely, because many stores don’t run e-gift cards like they do physical cards. If I get any requests to provide them with data that can be “phished,” I’ll change my review, but right now I don’t think this app could be any better.
Seems alright, promising. I wish it gave you a lot longer to redeem their gift for signing up (24hours). It should be AT LEAST 2 weeks, if not 4. That way you have time to pick a card/retailer as well as you might need to wait until payday so you can afford it. Also, if they are going to do 1 point for each $1 spent, a minimum of 1000 points ($1000!!) in order to get a reward, is WAY TOO HIGH. It should be every 100 points ($100) gets you a $5 Gyft card to redeem on gift card purchases. That would encourage people to buy gift cards through Gyft and not in ANY OTHER LOCATIONS like ANY STORE CHECKOUT AISLE OR EVEN THE STORE'S OWN WEBSITE!!!!
Don't believe the hype!
I was really excited about this app, as I have a couple of gift cards that I've been carrying in my wallet, but forgot to transfer them when I changed wallets. I'm thrilled by the convenience, however, not pleased at all with their misleading offer of $5 off a gift card purchase. Upon activating my account, I was led to believe I had 24 hours to take advantage of the offer; however, when I went to do so about 8 hours later, I was told that the offer had expired. I initiated a chat with one of their representatives who apologized and said there's nothing he could do. Really?!!! Truly unimpressive.
