Good Concept, but Many App Errors and Unresponsive Customer Service
I've been using this app for a little over two years and have never had any problems until recently (within the last two months). Often times my food logs will not sync over from myfitnesspal and I have had to email customer service, and instead of just fixing the issue they cancel the entire week. They charged me $5 for missing a food log pact even though I had a dispute open and the instructions customer service gave me did not resolve my issues. Since I've been having this issue, I've been trying to get in touch with someone for almost three weeks to get the issue solved and for about a week to get the charge reversed and haven't received any response at all.
Additionally, I stopped doing the veggie pact about a year ago because other people's concept of what counts as a veggie is ridiculous. I posted an image of a sandwich with several tomatoes, cucumbers, and lettuce (well over a service of veggies/fruits), and it got down voted for being unhealthy because there was meat on the sandwich. That's not how the veggie pact is supposed to work and I think there needs to be more user education before people are allowed to use this feature.
You barely get anything for fulfilling your pacts, while they charge a lot for missing just one. Not worth it anymore. As soon as I get my money back I'm closing my account.
Designed to make money... Rip off
Stay away!!!!! Is a ripoff... Im so unhappy with this app... It crashes constantly, more an more exceptions to avoid taking your input records... You get paid .20c (it used to be .50c) per workout but you pay $5 for missing one... It takes you 20 workout for every day you miss... In the occasion you do, because the app is a piece of useless junk who brick my phone... Apple should ban this thing until the software functional.... And The latest updates are designed so the developer can make money... In a very sneaky way they change how to score frequencies on your workouts so they don't count towards your pact... customer service don't seem to care about having a human anwsering your concerns other than saturating your email with automated responses...In the past month I've been very consistent on my workouts and 2 weeks ago after the latest updates most of my workouts have became un-compliant... Same workouts I've been doing since i've start using the app.... they make it even harder adding more and more requisites for the workout to count... Thats not what I've sign for... Im closing my account... Avoid this like the plague... Sneaky scheme to make money hidden behind a good concept
Some IT problems but an amazing concept
I have been using Pact since the beginning, and the concept really really works for me. What is more motivating than paying vs. earning money simply by deciding not to be lazy? I have earned probably over $60 on this app, but I've paid probably the same amount over time. Regardless, I still use it! It keeps me accountable and can be that little reason to go for a 30 minute walk or eat an apple when otherwise you sit on the couch with a bowl of cereal because "you're too tired." (Hint: this is me some days). The app itself is a little inconsistent, and I've had to delete it and then re-install it before. However, Pact customer support has literally always given me a free pass if the reason I didn't complete my pact was due to IT issues. I mostly use the motion sensor and accomplish via walking in addition to my normal workouts so that I don't have to have my phone on me. Every little bit counts!
