Good app with the potential to be great
This is a great app for accountability. There are 3 sections you can choose to partake in - fruit/veggie eating, food logging (through My Fitness Pal) and workouts (through motion tracking on your phone or a connected motion tracker, such as Fitbit. You can choose 30 minutes of motion tracked exercise or 10,000 steps a day through your activity tracker.) You choose which Pacts to partake in and then you choose number of times a week and how much you'll pay per missed item (starting at $5 and going up in $5 increments.) You earn money for completing your weekly pacts. Now for the issues. The fruit/veggie part relies on you taking a photo and posting it. The pact community then votes it up or down. This part is a little too subjective for me. I've contacted customer service once about what I felt was an unfair uncounted item and still haven't heard from them. It's been 4 days and had I not made up for it with other posts I would have been charged today. The other issue I have with this app is the motion tracking. There is a threshold you have to get over for at least 30 minutes out of 90 for your gym pact to be counted for the day. This obviously doesn't take into consideration light-motion activities like yoga or Pilates. So, my true rating is 3.5 stars. There's definitely room for improvement but I have yet to run into any major issues.
Awesome app and concept!
I have been using Pact since about September of 2014. I started out slow but I am now setting a gym pact for 5/wk, a food logging pact 7/wk and veggie pact 20/wk! I haven't lost weight since I started, but that wasn't my goal. I'm making healthier choices now! Instead of just crashing on the couch all night I really do get up and go to the gym. Instead of grabbing ice cream at the store I get fruit for my snacks. I also LOVE that I have made money with being healthier! In just about 9 months, I've made about 75 bucks, and only missed two pacts the whole time costing me 10 total. The money you make isn't the motivator, it's the money you will lose. As for how the app works, for me on iPhone 5s it almost always works perfectly. I have had to email for support when pacts that should have counted didn't count, but those occasions have been rare and when they happen I always get an answer back very promptly. I have recommended this app to all my friends and i would recommend it to you too!
I was using this app & everything was going well. I met my goals throughout the weeks. Then one week I decided to put my pact on pause. I even checked it several times to make sure it was paused. The app specifically said the pact WAS paused. At the end of the week I canceled my account and was charged. I've searched all over for a phone number for customs support and there's not one. (Surprise!) I sent an email (website states they will reply in 1-3 days) to which I received NO response (Surprise again!)! VERY unhappy customer. This app is a SCAM!!!
3 weeks later, I FINALLY get a response from cs stating that I was charged because I paused my pact on a Tuesday. So you are telling me that if something happens mid week & I need a pause, I will still be charged? Even when things are out of my control?? When I put my pact on pause, I expect that pause to take place immediately. That's everyone's thought, right?? NO, that's now they steal your money! This app is nothing but a scam. DO NOT USE IT!
