Halide is an award-winning camera app listed in Macworld's "Must Have Apps," The Verge's "Apps We Love," and picked by The Sweet Setup as "Best Third-Party Camera App for iPhone." Daring Fireball says, “This sort of maniacal attention to the smallest of details deserves to be celebrated.”
Halide is a groundbreaking app for deliberate and thoughtful photography. With high-end tools, and a beautiful UI designed from scratch for iPhone 8 and iPhone X, Halide is your go-to camera when you want to really take a photo rather than a quick snapshot.
Use gestures in Halide to change exposure and manual focus with a swipe. Halide’s professional tools include focus peaking, histograms, adaptive level grid, manual depth capture, and RAW support on supported phones.* Customize controls to adapt the app to your needs.
- Beautiful, intuitive gesture-based interface
- On iPhone X and later, a custom-designed UI that is completely usable with one hand
- Manual Depth Capture. Take portraits of pets and objects on iPhone XR.
- Focus peaking and powerful manual focus
- Full manual controls including shutter speed, ISO and white balance
- Live histograms for perfect exposure*
- Captures RAW, TIFF, HEIC or JPG for the best quality shots*
- Grid overlay with built-in level
- Quick-review of your last few shots
- Intelligent automatic and manual mode
Histograms require iPhone 6 or later. (6, 6S, 7, 8, X, XS, XR, SE)
RAW requires iPhone 6S or later. (6S, 7, 8, X, XS, XR, SE)
Depth Capture requires iPhone 7 Plus, 8 Plus, X, XS, or XR.
Halide 1.12 helps you capture better photos with two big improvements.
Smart RAW is now even smarter. We use machine learning to optimize exposure in Auto mode to improve the dynamic range and further reduce noise. We call it Smart RAW v1.5.
We've added a color histogram, to help identify when a single color channel is about to be clipped. No more muddy, washed out roses! To toggle between color and luminance, just tap the histogram. If you want to read more about this and how histograms work, be sure to check our latest post at blog.halide.cam.
Finally, if you love Halide, we're excited to say we're launching another app later this month. Be sure to follow @halidecamera on Twitter for the news. And don't forget to tag your photos #ShotWithHalide. Seeing what you make is the best part of our job.

A fantastic camera for the iPhone
Halide is a fantastic camera for your iPhone. It is well designed and build to take advantage of every possible feature. I’ve used Halide with both an iPhone 6 and and iPhone X. Even on my iPhone 6 Halide helped me feel more like I was using my traditional camera with interchangeable lenses. Focusing and exposure on shots is easy to control if you want to.
On my iPhone X Halide sings. The RAW capture capability. The intuitive controls still work great, and the work the team put into supporting the iPhone X shows and makes it worth every penny. The inventive uses of the new screen are welcomed additions. I love using Halide for most of my shooting now because it is so easy to point and shoot in Auto or you can switch to manual and tune as you feel it needs. Just today I found the guide with haptics for lining up a level shot from above to be invaluable. I can’t wait to only take my iPhone X and Halide with me on my next trip and still be able to capture great photos.
Hands down the best
If it weren’t for the article I read on medium I wouldn’t have stumbled upon this app hearing about its journey in design to truly be tailored to this new iPhone X is what not only sparked my interest but it’s what made me willing to spend the money on it. It was no longer a random app on the AppStore. I had insight on its origins and an understanding of the detail put into place for it.
As far as my usage goes I love it. It brings powerful features and a one handed UI to the iPhone X. Every interaction seems to have been thought of and much like the X you have to familiarize yourself with the gestures and icons. There are however a few bugs with the app one of them being landscape mode. Yes it orients the photo correctly but the UI does not shift. I’m sure this will be and can be fixed in a future update. But for now this is the best app to take advantage off both the camera technology in the iPhone X and it’s design. Bravo, 5 stars.

Finally. Unlimited Potrait Mode on XR!
I am a Chef and Take pictures of my food constantly. When Apple released the iPhone XR, it wasn’t a well known fact that the Portrait Mode on this phones camera only worked on humans. I was not aware until after I upgraded. I felt that Apple was making a huge mistake. Now I had to scramble and find an App that would bring back the unlimited potential of Portrait Mode. Halide does just this and more. This App takes beautiful pictures. It is so far above Apples camera App that I hid that one and use Halide for all of my pictures. However, one note to everyone considering purchasing this App. Research the App before buying. Go on their website and read everything. If you buy it and start snapping away, chances are you won’t understand what this robust App is doing and your photos will NOT look like you want them to. So read up on it. Highly recommended App! Thanks!
