Just gave away my money


Another unsatisfied customer. One time I booked a cleaner but he went home with my cleaning solution. After skipping a few bookings because I was moving to a new place, I resolved to use a cleaner regularly. The person scheduled looked really good and I was excited. On the day of the appt, I get a note from a different cleaner (apparently the person changed) and the new cleaner had an emergency so I rescheduled the booking. I rescheduled to next week but changed my mind to the next day because I really wanted my apartment cleaned but then changed my mind again and skipped that booking because I had a guest coming over that night. Somehow it didn't register in their system and I ended up being charged for the next day. The heads up handy gave me was 1.5 hr before the cleaning, half an hour I can cancel with just a penalty so I was caught off guard and couldn't get any refund. Their customer service was speedy but within their "courteous" emails there was always an snobbish air that they didn't care about my business. So I ended up giving them money and having to clean myself!! Wonderful first cleaning experience at my new place! Great job, Handy. Just find a trusty individual cleaner if possible instead of a bunch of strangers.

Not such a “pro”


My “pro”, if I can call her that, was the worst experience I have ever had. To start, she showed up 45 min late, doesn’t apologize and goes into a long story of how she walked into the wrong house. Then proceeds to tell us that she was fired from Handy for being late and so not to tell them. Next she only showed up with oven cleaner, no other supplies and proceeded to ask us what each of our supplies are used for as though she had never cleaned a house before. 3 hours in, she did the bathroom and the oven and made the bed. She barely cleaned the kitchen (we had to clean after her to wipe up the soap scum) and never touched the living room. She ran out in a hurry and we later found that she had broken our broom. While she was here, she spent the whole time on the phone and was so loud that I had to apologize to my colleagues as I was working from home. I’ve never experienced such a rude, obnoxious person and she didn’t even get the job done!

When I reported it to Handy they offered to send another person (another 3.5 hours I would never get back) and the person canceled 30 minutes before they were supposed to be here.

I requested and received a full refund and will not be using this service ever again.



This company doesn’t care about pros or it’s clients. They base their pay for pros on how may cleaning they do, so if you’re an unsatisfied client email them and let them know you pay for your place and would like for that money to go to the pro cleaning it! Not to the people who claim jobs just to meet a quota. They also advertise the jobs for the wrong city, so they will say its in the valley when in reality is in Culver City or Hollywood. Takl has better policies and looks out for their client more. Or look for local Handy man and housekeeping services. No, contacting Handy team doesn’t help. They send you standard responses that don't really address the issue. And again why do you base the pay on the # of jobs. Don’t you see how many dissatisfied clients you have? That’s because you over charge and under pay, if a pro has excellent reviews and a high amount of request don’t steal from them by paying them $15 hourly ($60 for 4 hours of hard work) when you’re charging 130 for the job. That’s slave work. On top of that Handy doesn’t have a way to control the supplies the pros use, so when they start being cheap we have no way of purchasing the best products for the job.
