There are all sorts of Mac calculators… pretty ones, beautiful ones… some are nearly works of art. But all this eye-candy can get distracting. So we’ve created a single-colour Apple-style calculator that won’t strain your eyes. Simple yet stylish.
Some calculators have tons of tiny buttons for every function imaginable. But in everyday life, it’s much more useful to have a big convenient [+] button than one for sine. That’s why we decided to equip our calculator with only the most basic functions: +, -, ×, ÷, ± and fractions. Though it can handle parentheses too. It’s got everything needed by the typical computer user, office worker, businessman or schoolchild; and most students too. Everything is handy and user-friendly.
When you’re busy punching in numbers, you often need to see what you did before, to be sure it wasn’t a mistake. With our calculator, you can type in all the numbers and see them together, for example: 5+9+37648-9805+(3879×78). Once you’re sure everything is OK, go ahead and press [=]. You’ll quickly get used to this feature, and won’t want to be without it.
You can copy the current result into your computer’s memory with a single click on our calculator’s display pane, or by pressing [⌘][C]. You can then re-use it in documents or other calculations.
When normal calculators are close to a document, they quickly become distracting. And repeatedly docking/undocking the calculator wastes time and breaks your concentration. We’ve come up with a better solution. When our calculator is active, it’s a bright colour; when it’s inactive, it becomes 80% transparent and barely noticeable. Even though it’s still handy right next to your document, it isn’t annoying. This feature turned out to be much more useful than we expected.
[⌘]+[C] = copies calculation result
[⌘]+[V] = pastes calculation result
[⌘]+[H] = hides the calculator
[⌘]+[Q] = completely shuts down the calculator
Handy Calculator: It hooked our friends too!
What's New in Version 2.2
Decimal numbers can be entered without zero. (32 * .01)
To copy result - simple click on result area.
All known bugs were fixed.
Now you can use percent sign in short (ex. 3201 - 10%) expressions.
Clear button (full apple keyboards only) now works as expected.
Amazingly useful, amazing staff and customer service
I have to add numbers a lot at my job for bills (but I'm not an accountant) and I don't like using my phone or the dashboard app. If you slip a number up, you have to start over. That is a problem when you are 20 numbers in. The handy calc app rules because you can just fix the number before you total. One major problem of mine solved. The turning transparent feature turned out to be so useful too. It just makes my job faster and more accurate.
I had a bug or limitation I found on a version of this app and contacted the developers. I had not only a response the next morning, but an updated version of the app with the bug fixed in the email. It's kinda rad and kinda sad that I've never been treated this good by a company ever in my life. So thanks for that guys!
I like it.
I bought it for $2 tuesday because… well because I felt like spending 2 dollars… but its deceptively handy. I wouldn't have expected this app to increase my productivity, but it in the few hours I've had it, it has. Don't listen to the guy who said it doesn't allow you to copy and paste into the app.. It does.. I don't really see how you could think it doesn't. highlight and ⌘v… not too difficult.
One thing though… Xcode, Sparrow, iTerm, Textmate, Word… these apps belong in my dock… a calculator does not … Give me the option to put it in the tool bar, or I'm taking away a star. You have a month. Come February 22nd, if this calculator isn't in my toolbar, you'll have 4 stars.
And, while I'm at it… hot keys would also be much appreciated… I would like to be able to hit ⌘k or something to clear it out
Other than that, great job.
Best Calculator on the App Store!!
Exactly what I was looking for in a calculator for my Mac. It has a backspace key, something that ALL calculators on computers should have--the others are modeled after traditional calculators, which is completely asinine. I had been looking for the closest thing to CalcBot for the iPhone, and this is it! Well worth the $4.99. Thanks!
