Just plain sick.
I have loved BFG since the minute I discovered them. I have purchased every game I could and enjoyed every bit of them. Until this one. I was so disappointed in this game that I am STILL sick over it. I know some people may say "well, it's just 3 bucks" but to us loyal BFG customers who spend 3 bucks very often on these games, it's a huge deal when we don't get what we THOUGHT we were paying for.
I have read many of these reviews and users keep thinking there is a bug when they can't access the right door behind the dead guy or when the barn HOS doesn't appear or when the lamp knob doesn't go into their inventory or when they can't find the last card. Shame on you BFG! It's not a bug at all, we just get the chopped up version of the PC game, which would have been fine if we had been aware of this. But we weren't!!
I will remain a loyal BFG customer. After all, that's what "loyal" means, sticking with someone even if they mess up. But more games like this and I'm sure I can say I won't be the only one leaving bc BFG, you should be loyal to your customers as well.
The dialogue & instructions for mini-games was often too small to read. Luckily, I was able to figure out what to do through trial & error. Also, items to search for were very small at times, and during my search I would often get taken to a different room. I wish that the area you touch to exit a room was smaller or marked by only an arrow (like, you can only switch rooms if you touch the arrow itself).
On the upside, the game overall was great. I love that there were as many puzzles/mini-games as seek-and-finds, and there was a good variety of puzzles as well. It was also great that there were no hints available (although I did get stuck in the bonus game once. Had to look up how to find the rod in the 1st scene). The scenes were well detailed and aesthetically pleasing. It looked like great effort was put into them.
Edit: if devs are going to port desktop games to mobile devices they need to pay some attention to how they cut them down to fit. The diary in this one stops getting new entries long before the game ends. What happened to Pierre? I know from the walkthrough of the bigger game that he's toast too, but that should have shown up in the app game. The Inspector starts out all rational and ends up doing spells. And why would anyone want to save the countess? Especially with a machine made with human body parts? Love the demon tho.
The regular game is very good. Challenging in several places, but on the touch ( and I assume the phone ) you can not read the the countess's or the little demon's dialog. It's not so much it's too small but that the font is unclear. Also the bonus material isn't worth the buck. Way too short and totally linear. Stick to the regular edition.
