Your Headspace subscription will automatically renew at the end of each term and your credit card will be charged through your iTunes account. You can turn off auto-renew at any time from your iTunes account settings but refunds will not be provided for any unused portion of the term.

My favorite app

This is the only app I pay for, and it's certainly my favorite. I have used it for 2 years and it keeps me on track with my meditation practice. There are "packs" I like more than others, but overall I'm really impressed with the simple and effective guided sessions. It keeps me accountable and it provides me with lots of guided meditations to choose from, including exercises on sleeping, happiness, focus, appreciation, anxiety, etc. What I pay for the app is less than going to one in-person meditation class a month, so it's well worth it for me considering how much of an improvement I see in my mood and outlook when I'm meditating.

In terms of cons, my biggest pet peeve about the app is that if you decide midway through a pack of themed sessions that you don't like it, or want to switch to a different pack, the only way to do that requires losing all your progress -- you have to finish your current pack before starting a new one. Some packs are 30 sessions, which makes this quite a commitment. For example, I didn't like the "relationship" pack and I was actually avoiding meditation or sticking with the "classic singles" (unthemed guided or unguided meditations that you can do whenever without disrupting your progress through a specific course). When I realized how silly that was, I switched to a new pack -- losing all my progress in the relationship pack, which I'd gotten something like 20 days into. Annoying.

Overall though, I highly recommend it!

Best Gift I've Received

I received a subscription to Headspace as a birthday gift from my son. I started off the year with great discipline & enthusiasm for becoming more mindful. The guide, Andy, has a calming and pleasant voice which is easy to listen to. He guides you through the process of learning about mindfulness with daily sessions to help you apply the techniques. About mid-year, I let life take over and lost myself on life's treadmill. I realized months later that I really missed being on the path of mindfulness and wanted to work on being present in the moment. I renewed my subscription and am back on track! You can download the app and use the free sessions to get started. Some people may be content using them repeatedly, but I liked the variety of sessions that come with a subscription and the ability to tailor the time spent in each session. I'm doing 15 min a day, but want to increase this as I get better control over my monkey-brain. This is the best app I've found - the sessions keep you on track, you can set reminders and as I said before, Andy has such a calming voice. I also like that this isn't "mystical" nor does Andy get philosophical or spiritual. Each person can infuse their own philosophy or spirituality how they approach mindfulness. For me, the challenge is to clear my mind completely and become more in tune with my physical and emotional self. Highly recommended!!

Best Meditation & Mindfulness App

Out of the different apps I use and have tried for mindfulness and meditation, this one is my favorite by far. The creator of the app studied as a Buddhist Monk and is very experienced. It's extremely well done, if you haven't tried it yet, the first ten days are completely free, definitely check it out. There are a few people complaining about how you lose progress when you switch packs after you get a subscription. In terms of how the mind works though, I can see why the creator would design it like this. It takes at least 21 days to implement new habits and patterns firmly into your life. By making a commitment to do a pack for the next 30 days, you are committing to making what's contained in that pack a reflexive way of thinking and acting. If you repeatedly jump from pack to pack without a consistent focus, your mindfulness practice will continue to improve, but the nuances of the packs will not make as much of an impact if you're listening to a diverse number of them without a consistent focus. Having said all that, the app is absolutely amazing, I highly recommend it for anyone interested in meditation or mindfulness. I've been meditating for over 20 years and this has been a breath of fresh air for me.
