Essential mindfulness app that I use daily

Headspace is a no frills, beautifully designed mindfulness app that I’ve incorporated into my life daily. While I was trying the freemium version after going through several of the free sessions, I experienced a medical emergency and was hospitalized. I underwent a surgical procedure while awake, and I used the techniques I learned from Headspace to keep myself from freaking out. Even though I had only gone through a few of the free sessions, I learned to stay aware and calm during the medical procedure. I used Headspace daily while I was in ICU recovering, which made my experience in the hospital less scary. I decided after I was discharged that I needed to subscribe to the premium version, which opened up a lot more sessions for many life events that most folks experience. I have no regrets upgrading to the premium version. The app has not only helped in my recovery, it’s also trained me to be more mindful and aware of my body and health and my surroundings. I love the ease of use of the app and it doesn’t have too much going on like soundscapes or too much talking during the sessions. This app has become an integral part of my morning routine. It’s the first thing I do after I wake up. It’s the perfect way to begin the day. This is a great app that everyone should try. Consider upgrading to the paid version for more meditation packages. Worth the price!


Most important part of my day

Ok granted the definition of “most important part of the day” will vary person to person but I cannot recommend this app enough. I struggle with on over active mind and often find myself over analyzing minute details and creating a larger more worrying stress as a result. I also struggle with quality sleep and generally wake up feeling less rested than before although that is an issue of sleep inertia, following a head space session I feel invigorated and rejuvenated to take on my day as I feel a wave of mental clarity. I generally opt for a 10 minute session either in the morning or middle of the day around lunch time before I hit the books again (studying for the gamsat) and feel incredible. I even find great benefit from the 3 minute sessions and find myself being more mindful during the day ! I’ve used the app for about a month now but found benefits after 4 days of use. It’s not some kooky zen thing to do it’s better than any cup of coffee to perk you up and there is absolutely NO EXCUSE NOT TO USE IT if you can find time to scroll through the nonsense on Facebook feeds you can find time for this. I would recommend this to every child, DEFINITELY TEENS, College Students and adults. If you’re still not sold, look up Andy Puddicombe TED talk. The man is incredible. DOWNLOAD NOW !!!
