Ancestral diets like paleo and the Standard Human Diet are changing how we look at food. Unlike most modern diets, they shift focus from minimizing calories to maximizing nutrients. In doing so, they allow people to restore a natural metabolism.

But in a truly natural world, nutritious food would not be available without effort. Our ancestors couldn’t go to a supermarket to stock up on organic beef patties and tropical fruit salad. If they wanted to eat quality foods, they would have to go out and find them. By contrast, we can just pick up the phone and order a pizza. This has led many of us to lead a mostly sedentary life, resulting in various ailments.

The Healthy Lives app lets you log your daily activities to earn food. For each activity you complete, you collect one food item for tomorrow’s menu. Linking what you can eat to how much you exercise will give you a natural motivation to be active. It will take a few days to get used to, but earning your foods will make you proud of every delicious meal you eat instead of feeling guilty about it.
